A month back, I came to the rude realisation that the seasonal shedding my hair was going through could not be considered seasonal anymore! It had become more chronic and needed urgent action, or else—I ran the risk of losing bunches of hair strands everyday. So, I did some (no, actually loads) of R&D, and finally decided to try Kama Ayurveda's immensely popular and well-loved Bringadi range that's meant for preventing hair loss, helping with hair growth, reducing dandruff, adding shine and basically 'fixing' the wrongs with your hair. I had high hopes because Kama is one of the very few homegrown brands getting the Ayurveda backed self care memo right, and because the reviews for this range in particular were quite impressive.

Here's my review of each of the products after trying them for a month.

The first and most important step in pretty much all hair care routines is oiling. You can call the Bringadi Thailam Intensive Hair Oil the star of the show since it's responsible for most of the magic the range does. I have been using Kama Ayurveda Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment Oil for a month now. During my weekend champi sesh, I massage the oil into my hair for a good five to seven minutes, and keep it on for twenty minutes or so. Since I have an oily scalp, keeping it in my hair for longer durations isn't a thought. The texture of the oil is super light and doesn't weigh down your hair, something which I really like.

Since it has bhringraj and indigo extracts, it is supposed to help your scalp fight against hair fall, dandruff and premature greying. While I don't deal with the last one, I can vouch that it did help my mane with the first two—I can see a considerable improvement in my hair fall, which started reducing after two weeks or so, additionally my scalp has become less flaky than usual with little to no dandruff fall off on my shoulders.

It has a strong herby scent to it which only makes sense since it's an organic oil concoction. What I love the most about this oil is that it doesn't require crazy scrubbing, and washes off quite easily in a single wash. I have also noticed that since I have started applying this oil, my scalp has become less oily and requires lesser number of washes in a week (from three to two washes). Also, since it has natural conditioning properties, my hair doesn't feel rough or scruffy post washes and stay fresh longer. It also provides a slight cooling effect on the scalp that feels delightful on a hot summer evening.

Kama Ayurveda Bringadi Hair Cleanser

Even though the Kama Ayurveda Bringadi Hair Cleanser is a mild cleanser sans any sulphates and parabens, it does a fantastic job at removing the oil from your scalp and hair. Formulated with bhringraj, amla, liquorice and indigo extracts—it is meant for nourishing, volumising and repairing your hair as well as reducing hair fall. I'm someone with oily hair, and oiling my hair becomes a problem if there's still left over oil in my hair, even after the wash. Fortunately, that's not the case with this Ayurveda-based cleanser, making it a delightful wash. It does have the similar herbaceous scent as the oil, similar to henna which I honestly don't mind.

The consistency is quite nice, more on the liquidy side just as a lightweight cleanser's should be. My only ick with this product is that you end up using a lot of it since you need more of it to create lather (since there are no sulphates present) but quality haircare products are a great investment so one shouldn't mind. And true to its repairing and hair fall claims, I do see a certain difference in my hair's quality, they are much stronger and less frizzy than before and like I mentioned before, my hair fall is reducing significantly week by week as I keep using this range. All in all, the oil and cleanser combination have made my hair feel the healthiest and cleanest in a long time!

After cleansing, hair need something moisturising to lend that silkiness and shine, and that's when the Bringadi Hair Conditioner comes in and saves your hair with its bringadi hair oil actives. It's again a lightweight formula that doesn't make your hair feel lump or weighed down, and restores the lost moisture quite well.

As one would expect from any hair conditioner, this product helps detangle hair, leaving your hair more manageable and ready for the day. Apart from bhringraj and amla, it has mulaithi and coconut milk to nourish and seal the moisture in. After applying to my hair ends, I take the slightest amount (less than a pea) on my palms and run my hands through my scalp top. As someone who's blessed with ample baby hair that turn into flyaways in a jiffy, this conditioner does a phenomenal job of taming them down for me without making my hair greasy, unlike most conditioners.

Dealing with fine hair is a menace TBH, and the only hair product that helps with bringing them back to life is a mask. I use hair masks only on days I am doing a full pamper routine for my hair that includes oiling, shampoo, conditioner and finally, a deeply moisturising mask. My first thoughts on the Kama Bringadi Intensive Repair Post Wash Hair Mask were that it's not a very heavy-duty hair mask which makes it perfect for my fine, dehydrated ends. It isn't as rich or thick as other hair masks I have used in the past that tend to make my hair feel borderline greasy.

Also, since the texture is so great, it coats every hair stand quite well and does an exceptional job at making my hair feel smooth and bouncy. While it's suggested to keep your hair mask on for around fifteen to twenty minutes, I always keep mine on for not more than ten (call it lethargy) and it still does a fab job. Honestly, this whole routine has changed my hair game and seems like the perfect fir for my oily scalp and dry ends hair combo.

The Verdict

Would I restock the Kama Ayurveda Bringadi Haircare range? Absolutely yes! While I would tweak certain things since using all the four products for a month has given me a better idea as to when I need to use what, I would definitely recommend this routine to anyone dealing with hair fall or damaged hair.

In a month, I can definitely say that my hair fall has significantly reduced from what looked like the horrific visuals shown in hair fall shampoo ads to a normal level of hair fall which is around fifty to hundred strands on a daily. My scalp feels much cleaner, fresher and less oilier than before which in turn requires me to wash them less times number of times in a week unlike earlier when my greasy scalp would need immediate washes. Also, my hair feels much smoother, shinier and manageable so using heating tools to 'fake it till you make it' is out of the picture for sure!
