Wild Wild Punjab
This is a movie to watch with your ‘boys’ because created by the same people who are behind movies like Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Tu Jhoothi Main Makaar, this one is about a group of mostly drunk boys who go on a cross-Punjab trip to convey to the ex of one of them, Khanne, who’s a heart-broken mess, that he is over her. Good for you, bro. We don’t know yet where the gunfights and the action come in from, but we are excited to find out.

Kakuda
Stree, with its pioneer ‘horror comedy’ concept in Bollywood, started the trend for a lot of movies to follow and became the first instalment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe. While Kakuda is not a part of that universe, it’s of the same genre and vibe. The poster teases it to be a ‘freakishly spooky comedy,’ and the film stars Ritesh Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem. The plot also hints at a similar-ish storyline, with the caption being “Purushon Ke Hit Mein Jaari”. The caption also teases a warning to open the doors at sharp 7:15 PM on Tuesdays otherwise ‘Kakuda’ will come. If you’re in the mood to laugh while you’re little-little scared, add this to your watchlist!

The Decameron
It’s the era of period dramas, and we love that they are getting more twisted and whacky after the innocent (yet steamy as heck) plot of Bridgerton, which was just about royal balls and courtship… My Lady Jane which releases on 27 June is one such period drama. The Decameron is the next! Releasing on Netflix this July, The Decameron is an American medieval black comedy, created by Kathleen Jordan and loosely based on the 14th-century short-story collection of the same name by Giovanni Boccaccio. Tudum by Netflix tells us that it’s a “wine-soaked sex romp in the Italian countryside” and they have our attention. It’s about a group of misfits who come to a retreat to a villa to save themselves from the Bubonic plague, but chaos ensues.

Showtime
If you want to go to the backstage of Bollywood, where the real drama ensues, tune into Showtime, starring Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Mouni Roy, and Mahima Makwana among others. While the first four episodes were released in March, all of the remaining are set to be released this July. The plot revolves around a crazy power struggle at a fictional Bollywood production house, and Emraan’s performance was much praised! Add it to your masala watchlist for the month.

The Imaginary
There’s much that sucks about adult life and reality, but this movie is going to make you forget about all that. The movie is a hand-drawn animated gem, by Studio Ponoc, staffed by the veterans of Studio Ghibli. It’s a story about Amanda and her imaginary friend, Rudger, but it’s also about a town of all the imaginary friends, where the forgotten imaginaries go and find work. Based on the book by writer A.F. Harrold, this movie is an opportunity to revel in the joys of childhood, making it a great watch for children and adults alike.

Find Me Falling (2024)
If you feel like a vacation to the beautiful Middle-Eastern Island of Cyprus and falling in love might just finally heal you, you’ve got to give this movie a shot. It’s a good one for all the days when the blues seem to hit extra hard, and you need something comforting to feel good, alongside a tub of chocolate ice cream. Find Me Falling is headed by singer and actor Harry Connick Jr., who plays a brooding, tattooed, lonely rock star (we love those) who is struggling with his dwindling popularity and a failed comeback album. He moves to Cyprus to deal and boy, if we could, we would do the same. But, for now, we can simply watch this movie which is a love story that’s not just romantic love—but also about a love towards your dreams, your family, and more.
