October is going to be all about the festive flair and fall cosiness! And though we'll be running to Dandiya nights and pandal hopping, we are equally excited about snuggling in our beds with hot cocoa and binging new releases that will introduce us to a new world of drama, romance, and thrills. Check out eight new releases that need to be on your radar for a lovely watch party in October.

CTRL

Ananya Pandey seems to have found her niche, i.e. playing an influencer. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, CNTRL is a cyber—thriller in which Pandey's character seeks refuge from AI after a very public breakup. With Motwane's directorial eye, Ananya Pandey's evolving acting skills, and a pretty relevant theme to today's world, we are super excited to binge this one and hopefully relate to some of the qualms of the rise of AI.

Lonely Planet

A movie by Susannah Grant? Sign us up already! Lonely Planet seems to be a visual treat (cc: Liam Hemsworth) where a novelist arrives at a writer's retreat in Morocco, hoping to escape her writer's block. This remote setting seems to unfold a sparkly love affair between her and Liam (who is there with his girlfriend). The movie seems to be a total package of love, romance, intense, conflicting emotions, passion, and great backdrops of Morocco. We cannot wait to watch it on a weekend of relaxation and unwinding.

The Secret Of The River

Encapsulating unexpected friendships, a dark secret, and coming-of-age identity crises, 'The Secret of the River' feels very much like a Bildungsroman in the best way possible. Set in a small town in Mexico, an unspoken truth lurks between Manuel and Erik, and as they grow up, they must come together to face the consequences, with hidden feelings between them. We'd describe it as 'Heartstopper' meets 'Where the Crawdads Sing', and it's safe to say we're eagerly looking forward to seeing their journeys unfold.

The Menendez Brothers

If you love your true-crime podcast and documentaries, 'The Menendez Brothers'' story is what you need to watch. Based on murders that happened thirty years ago and a court trial that shocked the world, the Menendez brothers are coming out with their own story, relaying the life before and the night of the murder of their parents, right from the Donovan Correctional Facility. The documentary will capture the picture-perfect life of this wealthy family from Beverly Hills and uncover the dark, horrifying secrets that changed these brothers' lives forever.

Where's Wanda

Starring Emmy winner Heike Makatsch, Axel Stein, and the dynamic Lea Drinda, this dark comedy is what we are most excited to binge. This eight-episode series delivers a wild journey of Dedo and Carlotta, who take matters into their own hands after their seventeen-year-old daughter, Wanda, goes missing. Ending up spying on and surveilling their entire neighbourhood, they discover that the secret of Wanda's whereabouts appears to be much more bizarre than expected. If you love your mystery thrillers with a side of dark comedy, then this one would be absolutely perfect for you and your friends for a watch party.

Fabulous Lives VS Bollywood Wives

Don't worry; your need for trash TV will be more than satisfied. The Bollywood Wives are back with season three with a spin-off. The original gang will be joined by three Delhi ladies: Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Shalini Passi, and Kalyani Saha Chawla. We cannot wait for this one, eager to see how things will collide, manifest, and get sassy. The trailer is not out yet, but we believe it will be an overdose of luxury and cheeky comments.

The Platform 2

The Platform is one of the movies that has stayed with us for the longest time, and we definitely have high hopes for its sequel as well. The twisted social allegory features a vertical prison system, where a platform delivers food to all the inmates, with an unwritten rule — each person only eats from their chosen dish. It captures humanity at its darkest and 'hungriest' and unfolds into a quest to survive that seems impossible. Based on the first part of the movie, we wouldn't recommend it for the faint-hearted, and for first-timers, we'll say imagine 'The Menu' amplified to a much more intense level.
