There’s something special about the moment when you and your best friend in the whole wide world take time to snuggle on your couch with your favourite snacks and binge-watch. Whether you’re rediscovering old shows or watching something completely new, just the fact that you’re going to spend the following couple of hours together travelling to a made-up world makes it an unbeatable activity. For you to have more of these moments in September, here’s a list of all the upcoming new shows and movies releasing on OTT platforms.

Call Me Bae

Think Rachel from F.R.I.E.N.D.S season 1 episode 1 or Alexis from Schitt’s Creek. Our very own Ananya Pandey is going to play a similar role in the upcoming comedy-drama series on Amazon Prime Video called Call Me Bae. When she’s suddenly stripped of the golden spoon she was born with, Bella (or 'Bae') has to start afresh and move from her beloved city, Delhi, to Bombay. The South Delhi princess needs to find her place in The City Of Dreams, get a job, and find herself! We’re excited to see if this series would leave us lol-ing or trolling!

Releasing On: 6 September

Streaming Platform: Amazon Prime Video

The Perfect Couple

With a star-studded cast including Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Eve Hewson, Dakota Fanning, and Ishaan Khatter, the name The Perfect Couple might be slightly misleading as it is not a rom-com but a murder mystery. Based on Elin Hilderbrand’s New York Times best-selling novel and directed by Emmy and Oscar winner Susanne Bier, the series follows Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson), a bride marrying into one of Nantucket’s wealthiest families. The trailer does a good job of letting us know that there’s a lot under the surface of this stoic and seemingly perfect family and promises us that it's going to be a journey! It promises to be juicy and sensual, making it a great weekend watch!

Champions

If you’re looking to watch something lighthearted and wholesome with your family, Champions will make for a great watch. Although it is an old theatrical release from 2023, it will be released on Netflix this September, so you can watch it if you haven’t. The premise of this sports comedy-drama is simple: Woody Harrelson plays the role of a former minor-league basketball coach who, after a series of missteps, is ordered by the court to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. Like all comforting movies, he learns much more than they do and takes them further than anyone thought they could.

Selling Sunsets Season 8

On some days, all we need is trash TV and a tub of ice cream and on those days, we turn to Selling Sunsets. For the uninitiated, this American reality TV show is about The Oppenheim Group, which sells property to the affluent buyers of Los Angeles. Netflix says that ‘the stakes are higher than a penthouse view’ for this season of the show, and we’re biting our nails in excitement!

Releasing On: 6 September

1000 Babies

Okay, this cryptic and mysterious Malayalam series keeps the suspense alive as it doesn’t tell much about the premise. All we know is that it stars actors Neena Gupta (returning to Malayalam Cinema after over three decades) and Rahman, who are seen against the backdrop of a deserted maternity hospital and can hear wailing babies. The setting and the background music are adequately chilling, and the official Hotstar premise tells us to 'Enter a cradle of mysteries where a man with a dark past manipulates multiple lives through a series of cryptic letters & deadly dames' —uh-hm, count us in!

Releasing On: TBA

The Fall Guy

We don’t need to say a lot of words to convince you to watch Ryan Gosling; you’d do that yourself. The movie was theatrically released in May and has been available for rent since then. All those who had been waiting to watch it for free with their OTT subscriptions can do so now as the movie releases on Jio Cinema this September. It’s about a stuntman who gets into an almost career-ending accident and is entrusted with the task of looking for a missing movie star, solving a conspiracy and winning the heart of his crush (Emily Blunt). We can only trust Ryan Gosling to do the job well and make us laugh on the side.

Releasing On: 3 September

Streaming Platform: Jio Cinema

Agatha All Along

Agatha All Along is an upcoming Marvel Television live-action series, a spin-off from the acclaimed series WandaVision. It focuses on Agatha Harkness, who was trapped in the town of Westview, New Jersey, at the end of WandaVision. We love that the series casts Aubrey Plaza, a mysterious goth teen who helps Agatha break free from her distorted spell and wishes to face the trails of the legendary witches’ road. Well, there will be many bewitching witches and Marvel-esque adventures, so buckle up!

Releasing On: 18 September

Emily In Paris Season 4 Part 2

If you thought Emily was living your dream life, working in Paris, and finally dating Gabriel, it’s about to get more envy-inducing. Emily is just about to go on her Roman adventure with a new hottie as things get strained at work and with Gabriel because Camille still hasn’t revealed the truth about her not being pregnant. God, the drama on this show—we love it!
