We Hunted Down Perfect White Tees That Are Tried & Tested By LBB Crew & Users

Fabric: You need to check whether the fabric is 100% cotton, blended cotton, linen or some other fabric as the fabric should be moisture-wicking, that is, it should not absorb or retain moisture. The fabric should also be breathable and comfortable for the skin even for long durations. Another way to check that is by the GSM of the tee, which is essentially the grams per square meter of the fabric which shows the thickness and quality of the material that should be at least 160+ to last you all seasons. 

Fit: The fitting of the tee should allow room for your skin to breathe and not cling to the body. We are ideally looking for something comfortable and relaxed, but you can also opt for a loose-fit tee that is super breathable but chic or even a slim-fit one which is body-hugging but comes in a breathable fabric. 

Occasion: The time and place you are going to wear these tees the most is what will also decides the silhouette, because as good as an activewear tee is, you cannot wear it to formal occasions no matter how much you're capable of dressing up or down an outfit. If you will be wearing it most often during the day then make sure that the fabric is not see-through and also does not show any sweat stains. If it is more for office wear, then you can pick out higher GSM fabrics since most indoor environments are not as hot, and since it is high quality it will last you longer than any regular flimsy ones. 

The very first on this list is the deep V cloud dancer reversible tee by Popflex Active. This is one of my favourites as it is designed by a woman for all women, with designs that accentuate our natural body. What I absolutely loved about this tee is the fact that it is reversible. You can wear it with a deep V-neck that gives a little peek-a-boo and shows off your inner, or you can wear it backless and slay in a sexy look. It comes in a relaxed fit, that is super lightweight and is made out of a blend of rayon and spandex which is moisture-wicking. 

Although it is 100% cotton and the material is just perfect for the summers, it was actually the fit of this crop top that had got me going completely Bonkers over it, yes pun intended, as soon as I heard about it from Jiya. She is the author's sister who has to travel daily for about 2 hours in a humid city like Mumbai, which is why her recommendation should be ideal for those humid, hot weathered places, that still cannot forego the cuteness of a crop top. “I'd bought the tee as a part of a coord but it was so soft and comfy I started wearing it with everything. It's the perfect slim-fit cotton crop, especially for summers”. We like that this top has 180 GSM (grams per square metre), which shows that it is a heavy-duty fabric, even though it is made out of 100% cotton, proving that this one will enter your closet to stay.

The next person I went to was none other than our LBB review veteran Diana who suggested this AiRism Tee from Uniqlo. AiRism fabric is basically micro polyester fabric that was designed specifically to cool down sweaty skin, perfect for a white tee that can easily show stains, especially during summer. “Can buy eyes closed, love the material, the price, the colour not fading. Wish it was longer though in length”, is what she had to say about this. We also love the asymmetrical hem and the relaxed fit which makes this tee loose and comfortable and the collar that makes it chic, perfect for day-outs. 

Another LBB author Siya, loved this classic, simple, 100% cotton tee from A&F. “Planning to stock this one on my next trip abroad. The crew neckline and straight hem make it perfect for sporting with denim or even formal trousers for a slightly more put-together look. What I like most is that the fit and length are perfect, not baggy or too tight- something that matters the most when buying a plain white tee”. The t-shirt comes in a comfortable relaxed fit, as noted by Siya and is super soft, something that you can wear all day long. 

We truly had it easy when moms used to shop for us as kids, which is why I went back to my mother for a recommendation. She especially loved this linen boat neck top from Creatures of Habitat as it had 100% linen and a texture and silhouette that is timeless because of the boat neck and loose fit. Another piece she loved from their collection is the Vintage Tee , which she likes because it reminds her of something similar she had and is a pure and rich fabric that is simple and great for her yoga & daily walks. 

For all you aesthetic lovers, I approached a friend, whose aesthetic I truly admire. She told me of this Appapop Polo neck tee from Nykaa that she got and is now obsessed with. “I got it as a gift, and it is perfect for the humid weather in Mumbai.
