The thing with Instagram ads is that they thrive on inducing dopamine in your brain by showing something irresistibly tempting or cool, highly nudging you to check it out. At that moment, you are left with a feeling of internal struggle to decide whether to give into the temptation or find logic in the purchase. But, our recent discovery didn't need much convincing.
Mulya Creation is a homegrown brand that turns your varmala flowers into wearable keepsakes. They use a very cool eco-friendly technique to print your own unique design using dried flowers. So, instead of storing these flowers in trunk boxes and letting them rot for ages for the sake of holding on to them (like our moms did), you have a much more feasible and dependable solution to have them in your life forever and who knows, maybe pass it on to the future generations as an heirloom.
Mulya has three verticals: Mulya Creation is the main brand that makes sustainable, handmade clothing using flowers to print unique designs on fabric. These flowers are procured from temples so one can truly appreciate their efforts to reduce flower wastage with their mindful cause. Preserve with Mulya is the special service they provide wherein they take your memorable flowers (like the varmala) and turn them into wearable keepsakes like dupattas and stoles; and finally, there's Mulya Bespoke for fully customised designs beyond floral preservation— made just for you, based on your style and preferences.
How this idea came up, you ask? Mulya's founder, Alisha explained how many people keep their varmala or special flowers but don’t know what to do with them. Instead of letting them dry out or throwing them away, Alisha thought— why not turn them into something you can wear and cherish forever? That’s how Preserve with Mulya was born, combining emotions with sustainable fashion.
The next thing that comes to mind is how the process works and how you are supposed to store the flowers for. Well, you keep the flowers in a cloth or paper pouch (not plastic) and let them dry in the shade. This keeps them fresh for printing, explains Alisha. Then, you can courier the dried flowers to Mulya or drop them off at their Dehradun studio. The flowers are then used to print on fabric using a special eco-friendly method, making sure they stay a part of your memory forever. They mostly use natural fabrics like cotton, silk, and linen so the prints last long and feel comfortable. To take care of these handmade pieces of art, use hand wash with mild detergent, avoid harsh sunlight for drying, and store it in a cool place. Alisha mentions that dry cleaning is also a good option.
