#ShopMyShelf: Our Favourites From Trinetra's Recent Skincare Dump

You know how much we love it when a celeb posts their #Unsponsered skincare routine. And specially when it's a celeb who is not mainstream, and is trying their best to keep it real, so you know there will be slightly affordable (and effective) skincare products in the mix over bombing their followers with extremely bougie La Mer-coded brands.

We are building a case for Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju (aka Trintrin) but we don't think that's really required since her skin is bombdotcom and when her recent skincare dump dropped on IG, we just knew we had to put it together in one place and brace our shopping carts for the girl therapy shopping sesh that is to follow.

Here are two products from each category that we feel all of you would love from the dump!

LBB Tip: she mentioned that her skin's mostly normal and occasionally drier/oilier/sensitive depending on environmental factors so do make a note of that.

A personal tried-and-tested cleanser from our top shelf, the The Derma Co. 1% Salicylic Acid Face Wash works extremely well for oily, acne-prone skin. Trinetra described this one and the 3% AHA-BHA Foaming Daily Face Wash from the brand as her 'literal staples'. Both of these feature exfoliants (salicylic acid in the former and salicylic acid, mandelic acid and glycolic acid in the latter) to get rid of the extra sebum off your skin and help with controlling the oil effectively.

Trinetra's trusted cleansers for when her skin's 'on the dry/irritated/sensitive side' are the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and the Dr. Sheth's Cica & Ceramide Gentle Cleanser. The Cetaphil baby has been an OG and works wonders for sensitive, dry skin yearning for some soothing action. The creamy, milky formula feels like a lotion and moisturises post washing unlike most cleansers that give that khich-khich dry feeling.

Elizabeth Arden Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules

Elizabeth Arden Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules

This is probably the only bougie skincare product in the dump and Trinetra describes it as 'slightly pointless packaging but quite nice'. The individually encapsulated capsules are formulated with maximum potency to give your skin maximum plump and glow. Hyaluronic acid draws in moisture while skin-strengthening ceramides lock it in. Trinetra also mentioned the Aqualogica Hydrate+ Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum and The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid as decent HA so consider getting your hands on of these over the Elizabeth Arden capsules.

Trinetra shared with everyone how she's been using the Plum 1% Retinol Anti-Aging Face Serum With Bakuchiol in her skincare routine thrice a week for over six months and how retinol has been a game-changer for her skin in the last three years. The formulation of this retinol serum is quite nice since it has retinol to help with multiple skin concerns like acne, large pores, fine lines and lots more! Secondly, bakuchiol boosts collagen while amino acids hydrate the skin, Additionally, Trinetra shared another retinol pick for beginners — The Minimalist 0.3% Retinol Face Serum

The excitement is real when you spot a celebrity using and loving the same product as you! And that's certainly the case with Clinique Moisture Surge. This gel-based moisturiser has wooed us many a times with its stellar formula enriched with aloe bioferment + HA complex, blend of vitamins C and E. This one and the The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream are regular empties in Trintera's vanity.

La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume

Trinetra describes this one as being great for when the skin's feeling dry or irritated. The La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume is meant for using to reduce dryness, restore hydration and comfort dry or very dry skin. She also uses Emolene, an over the counter moisturiser meant for extremely dry skin but does explain that some people can find it comedogenic and break them out. She also uses the Dr. Sheth's Haldi & Hyaluronic Face Mask which she wrote that she's been loving lately since bumping up her retinol to 1%.

We love it when someone shares their sunscreen favourites with us! And Trinetra gave us a whole dump of (affordable) sunscreens she's been loving. For everyday, she's been loving the Minimalist Light Fluid SPF 50 PA++++ and Episoft AC Moisturiser SPF 30 both of which are lightweight, fluid sunscreens that might take a good minute to get absorbed into the skin.

We spotted not one but two Plum sunscreens in Trinetra's skincare dump. First is the Plum 2% Niacinamide Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ sunscreen and the second one is the Plum Cica & Hyaluronic Aqua-Light SPF Sunscreen 50 PA+++ which we are kinda more excited about since it's a newer addition to Plum's arsenal. Both of these have SPF 50 protection and a dewy finish that sits perfectly well under makeup. However, if you have oily skin, skip these and buy the The Derma Co. Ultra Matte Sunscreen Gel With SPF 60 PA+++ which Trinetra describes as 'very matte, A+ consistency if greasiness is a concern'.

Trinetra gushed about this product like a true fangirl and since then, we are genuinely considering buying it. She describes it as super thick and says, 'I even use it on my elbows and knees when dry, one of the best products ever created'. This versatile product is an all-rounder that is a skin protectant which deeply moisturizes and protects skin. It's formula goes beyond moisturization, working wonders to shape brows, add shine to cheeks, soothe dry hands, smooth cuticles and nails, and more.

We have heard mixed reviews about Hyphen but their lip balm seems to be selling out like hot cakes. It is a peptide-enriched lip balm (call it Hailey Bieber's Rhode phenomenon) that has a slip to it and wraps your lips in the most stunning shine. Trinetra however mentioned that she finds it a bit too sweet tasting but loves the applicator. Another of Trinetra's favourite is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry, an OG at this point that everyone's familiar with.

Thanks to Trinetra, we have discovered a new summery body essential we wouldn't have otherwise. Skin Cottage is a Malaysian brand that promotes caring for the skin through skin-loving ingredients. Their Tamarind & Orange Essence Body Bath + Scrub is a two-in-one product that not only cleanses the skin but also gently exfoliates with the help of apricot kernels and jojoba beads present in it. Trinetra especially likes this for treating strawberry legs along with the The Derma Co 1% Salicylic Acid Daily Exfoliating Body Wash.

We are absolutely impressed by how Trinetra switches up the products in her daily rotation depending on how her skin's feeling and for days her body's feeling dry, she uses gentle body washes and cleansers like the Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash which is a fragrance-free body wash with a creamy formula that lathers gently to smooth away and hydrate dry skin, and the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser with hyaluronic acid, glycerin and ceramides that cleanses the skin without stripping it of moisture.

An oldie but a goodie. Trientra describes the Vaseline body lotion as 'Good old, reliable and standard'. Well, if you want a nourishing body lotion that does the job and doesn't hurt the pocket much then Vaseline is always a great option. We are currently obsessed with their Gluta-Hya serum-in-lotion range and use it as an overnight treatment for when our skin turns itchy because of blasting the air-conditioning all day.

Trinetra says that urea based lotion are underrated and shares that her pick is the Cetaphil Pro 10% Urea Smoothing Repair Lotion. This one is great for repairing dry skin that's sensitive. It boosts the regeneration process of extremely dry skin and helps soothe roughness and scaling of the skin. Additionally, she also uses the CeraVe Moisturising Cream and The Body Shop Shea Butter Body Butter which are muck thicker and rich in terms of texture.

Trinetra says, 'Not sure this does anything dramatic but i use it as a first step to makeup removal if wearing lots of it. Also very refreshing/soothing as a spritz after cleansing or even just through an exhausting day'. We have certainly heard that thermal water has soothing, anti-irritant and softening properties for the skin, and TBH, who would mind a refreshing mist on a hot summer afternoon?
