'Tis the season for hoodies! Aren't they just the best thing to own in your closet? Blending comfort and style into a cosy cocoon of warmth that feels like a portable hug when you are braving the cold. It's safe to say that some of us actually look forward to the chill in the air so we can put on our (or our partner's) hoodies and spend the day lounging around. We had no idea there were different types to suit different styles and moods, so let's get started and see which ones we need to add to our winter wardrobe ASAP, and who knows, maybe give up stealing from our partner's closet for a while. Read on!
8 Types Of Hoodies You Won't Have To Steal & Belong In Your Closet
Pullover
The classic pullover is a wardrobe must-have. It's possible that you already have at least one because no one can honestly do without a warm pullover in the winter. It usually comes with a Kangaroo pocket, which is a great way to keep your hands warm. The hood might come attached with two drawstrings to tighten the hood, with the fabric being heavier than your average casual jumper. The relaxed fit always makes you feel at ease and looks great teamed with any lower for a laid-back look on casual days.

Zip Up Hoodie
Another classic for those who fancy tops with zips. The zipper in the front starts from the neck to the bottom of the hoodie and is especially perfect for days when you want to go for a layered look or even simply wear it because you don't want to ruin your hair or makeup with the hassle of putting on and taking off a jumper. You can team it up with a pair of denim and cool sneakers if you are going the casual route or switch up with a collared shirt for a more polished look which can be dressed up or down depending on the rest of your outfit.
Oversized Hoodie
Oversized hoodies (also known as boyfriend hoodies) are, as the name suggests, baggy hoodies that give major streetwear vibes due to the loose fit we can't get enough of, and are probably everyone's most favoured type of hoodie. Oversized hoodies have become a symbol of pop culture, thanks to fashion biggies like Rihanna, Beyonce, and Ariana Grande making them a staple for their icon off-duty looks. You can either take inspiration from these queens and style your gigantically oversized hoodie with nothing but a pair of thigh-high boots or go for a pair of joggers if that's too risqué for you.
Cropped Hoodie
When it comes to styling a cropped hoodie, there's no right or wrong answer. Wear them with high-waisted shorts, skirts, pants or even layering over a tank top or sports bras for a casual errand-running look. They are also a great buy for gym days as the cropped silhouette doesn't restrict movement and keeps you looking fab while breaking a sweat. While you might have to avoid wearing them on extremely cold days, you should have at least one in your wardrobe to mix things up.
Sleeveless Hoodie
Even though personally I'm not a big fan of this type of hoodie, we would still wear it to the gym because of the easy athletic vibes it gives off. They are often made with thinner breathable materials to make them wearable when layering on a polo knit or any full-sleeve T-shirt or wearing alone during the warmer seasons. They look cool, so we would suggest wearing them for workouts over getting brunch with friends at your favourite restaurant.
Hooded Cardigan
It's a hoodie but it's a sweater, as simple as that. You bring the best of two worlds, the warmth of a sweater and the laid-back hood and there you have it—a hooded sweater. For easy dressers who love wearing hoodies, having a hoodie sweater in their closet is a must! It's comfy, fashionable, warm and looks super nice worn for a casual day out.

Athleisure Hoodie
Athleisure hoodies are made from active wear material (mostly polyester blends) that soak sweat quickly and keep you feeling cool throughout the day. The technical fabric and fit of the athleisure hoodie support movement and performance when you are getting your daily adrenaline dose in the colder days, and still want to be cosy while looking smart.
Hoodie Dress
If you like tunic style or long garments like dresses, then there's a hoodie style just for you! These definitely fall on the more elegant side of the spectrum without looking too casual. An uncommon silhouette, this one's a great add-on to your closet if you are looking for something to wear on a daily basis that's comfy but also looks put together. Just team it with a pair of heeled boots and you will be good to go!
