Sweetfry is a newly opened venture in HSR Layout serving authentic Korean Fried Chicken.
Korean Fried Chicken is not just a single dish but it is a bigger umbrella which includes a variety of fried chicken dishes. As the name suggests, these dishes are from South Korea. These dishes are often eaten as a snack/appetizer or as anju(or as we Indians call it "Chakna").
I ordered two types of fried chicken from Sweetfry. The first one is called Original Fried Chicken. Boneless chicken pieces are first seasoned with spices, dipped in a batter of cornstarch and egg and then deep fried more than once resulting in thin, crisp and almost transparent crust. Mostly these pieces are seasoned again after deep frying.
You would love this if you love KFC. It tastes good with drinks. I liked it because it was crispy and less oily(less residual oil).
The second one is called Korean Original Yangnyeom Chicken. In this dish, chicken is coated with a paste of gochujang, dark soy sauce, garlic, ketchup, jam, sugar etc. This gives the chicken pieces a coating that looks red in colour and is sweet in taste.
You would like this if you're okay having sweet fried chicken. I love honey glazed kind of savoury dishes and this dish was exactly like that.
P.S : Both these dishes were served with potato wedges.
