Occupying a soft-sandy beach in the scenic Trasi Maravanthe area, the Turtlebay on Sea property oozes rustic charm and offers a holiday that centres around beach bumming and watersports. Plus, it suits the budget traveller to the ‘T’.

By The Beach

Around 15kms from Kundapur is Trasi, a beach town that’s a stone’s thrown away from Maravanthe. Here, the Turtlebay on Sea stands on an unspoiled beach that’s bordered by coconut groves and golden sands. The entire property is dotted with brick-walled cottages and sloping, tiled roofs. Over the years, the resort has become a popular site for weddings and conferences.

The rooms come in Standard, Deluxe, and Sea Facing versions. The first two types are basic and you can settle into a room that’s got whitewashed walls, a comfortable bed, and colourfully-framed windows that offer glimpses of the scenery outside. The sea-facing rooms are bigger and they’ve added a spot of colour to walls so that you get a bright, cozy nook. And, of course, you can sit by the window and feast your eyes on the aqua blue waters of the sea for hours together.

You won’t have to wander too far for a meal when you are camped at this resort. Just drop by their restaurant where you can enjoy the sea breeze and chomp down fresh seafood treats. We highly recommend that your try out the Ghee Roasts, spicy fish curries, and coconut-infused dishes that this region {Kundapur} is famous for.

Test The Waters

Beach lovers have it good at Turtlebay. You can spend hours by the beach, soaking up the sun in a hammock or splashing about in the waters. You can also venture out into the waters in boats for a dolphin-spotting expedition. And if you really like to work those muscles, even on a holiday, then kayaking across the frothy waters or riding the waves atop a surfboard will do you a world of good.

This is also a great base to visit the breathtaking Maravanthe, where you can zip across a road that’s bordered by the thrashing waves of the sea on one side and the calm waters of the River Sowparnika on the other side. Mangalore and Udupi are not too far away for a day’s outing either.
