25 Best Restaurants In Bangalore For A Guaranteed Good Time All Year Round

The information in this post might be outdated

We have eaten our way through all the restaurants, cafes, bars, and breweries that Bangalore has to offer and after a lot of thought and debate, we decided we needed a list of restaurants that are in our words 'bankable'. No matter what, these spots serve up good food year round, along with an ambience that ranges from intimate date-night settings to pub and grub vibes. In no particular order, here are Bangalore's most bankable restaurants, cafes, bars, and breweries.

P.S.: If you’ve got a place that you think delivers good food, good vibes, and a good time all year round, let us know in the comments below. We might just add it to the list.

Tiamo

Overlooking Ulsoor Lake, Tiamo at Conrad offers one of the best views of the city. Pair that with an Italian-Meditteranean menu and the gorgeous infinity pool, you've got yourself the makings of a great date night spot. There are cabanas too, with mood lighting and candles, so really, your date will probably thank their stars for finding someone as romantic as you.

Shri Sagar CTR

It's the crispy bene masala dosa, hot filter coffee, and the old-world charm that draw the Bangalore crowds, both new and old, to this iconic spot. You're going for breakfast here and just savouring that bene masala dosa. The ambience is loud and you'll find folks from all age groups here thulping their dosas and whatnot. Come evenings, the Mangalore Bajjis are something to try.

Kuuraku

One of the newer entrants to Bangalore's bustling Japanese scene, we love the izakaya (Japanese bar) set-up of Kuuraku. You're not going here to canoodle with your SO, but rather you're here with your gang for a fun time. The place can get loud, but it adds to the izakaya vibe they are going for. There's also private seating for bigger groups and you can drink and make merry. Food is typical yakitoris, gyozas and sushi, but they also have substantials like ramen. Beer and Japanese vodka add to the merry.

Bang At The Ritz-Carlton

This luxe cocktail & lounge bar is located in The Ritz-Carlton and the rooftop ambience is truly one-of-a-kind. Couples on date nights to groups of buddies who are looking to let their hair down, great drinks, a good dose of lively music, and Bangalore's good weather are what you will get here. Oh, and there's a spot by the edge where there is a bonfire, so if you feel like pampering yourself and your SO, head on over.

Geist Brewing Co., OMR

The open-air beer garden (centred around a banyan tree) is the perfect spot for a Sunday brunch with the fam or a cosy space for date night on a weeknight (warm lights and all that). We also love that it's pet-friendly. There's obviously beer on tap, and Kamacitra and Uncle Dunkel are what we recommend. The food is comfort food at its best but with a Geist twist.

Roxie

Set in a 35,000 square feet palatial mansion spread across three floors—Roxie is an Italian-themed craft house that raises the bar with its setting. You'll love the signature cocktails that the bartenders expertly make—they don't just taste good, but look good as well. Plus, the menu offers everything from Thai to Korean and in between. Makes for a great night out or even a brunch with the gang.

Bob's

The running joke is 'Can you get a table at Bob's on the weekend?' The reason why the space is packed seven days a week is due to the fact that it pretty much recreates old Bangalore's pub culture, small plates of local food, and moderately priced alcohol. The vibe is super inclusive, with groups of friends catching up, couples on dates or coworkers relaxing after a long day.

The 13th Floor

One of the OGs, the 13th Floor is one of the best places to be if you’re looking for a drink with a stellar view of the city. Commercial music, Pan-Asian food and stellar views of Bangalore are what you get here. This is not really the place to go if you are looking to party, but be it a date or an evening with friends, this place is upbeat and eclectic.

Toit

One of Bangalore's earliest microbreweries, Toit remains a stronghold for folks to have a beer or too many on Sundays, Tuesdays, or well, just about any day. Toit Weiss and TinTin are the beers we recommend. If you're looking for a fun date out with a couple of drinks, then definitely Toit is the place to be. But that's us underselling Toit. It's great for pretty much any occasion. It's also the perfect stopover or terminal for a great Indiranagar pub crawl.

Hype

If you are looking to chill with a 360-degree view, then nothing like heading to Hype, located on the 19th floor of Shangri-La. It's luxe and you'll find folks dressed to kill for their night out with friends and a couple of drinks. There's a dance floor and there's also space for you to just sit with your drink and chit-chat the night away. Food is tapas-style, which never disappoints.

Arbor Brewing Company

Arbor is still about that 90s music and vibes that take you back to the old-school Bangalore filled with beer, banter and rock. You're going for the beer here obviously, and Bangalore Bliss is an all-time city favourite that never disappoints. When you're coming with a larger group, be sure to pick on finger food options, such as Old School Chilli Chicken, and Bacon Potato Skins.

Byg Brewski Brewing Co.

The sprawling 65,000 square feet Byg Brewski Brewing Company in Hennur offers an open-air ambience with a huge lake complete with a waterfall smack in the centre. There’s also an amphitheatre seating arrangement where live performances happen. They're also one of the happening venues for events. The menu at the microbrewery is global and there's craft beer on tap and craft cocktails.

Olive Beach

One of central Bangalore's popular spots, Olive Beach serves up Mediterranean and European dishes with a side of Greek vibes and a cosy ambience. In the afternoons, you'll find ladies on their day out, couples taking in Bangalore's sunny afternoons, and family get-togethers. Come evenings, it's a spot for celebrations and date nights.

Skyye

Another rooftop place to dance the night away is Skyye. The open-air lounge setting, overlooking the glorious view of the city is what you are going for. You're staying for the lively ambience, the dance floor, and the good music. Plus, there's plenty of potent cocktails and finger food to keep things going as you let your hair loose.

Blue Ginger

Touted to be one of the country's first Vietnamese restaurants, Blue Ginger at Taj West End is where you want to treat yourself. The open-air pavilion coupled with some of the best Vietnamese food we've had, make this iconic spot a hit all year long. The Pho is exceptional and we also recommend the tasting menus.

Phobidden Fruit

The Vietnamese restaurant in Indiranagar serves up staple dishes from Saigon including Pho, Banh Xeo, and Banh Mi. The place is always packing a crowd and some weekends there's a waiting too. The ambience is quite casual but there are spots that are great for date nights or when you are with your friends and want to catch up over good food.

Windmills

For craft beer, Jazz music, and solid food, there's no place like Windmills. They serve some of the best brews in town with their Stout, Hefeweizen, and India Pale Ale regularly available with seasonal brews. Their food pairs perfectly with the brews and there's one too many finger food to recommend since we like most of them! The Beef Roast, Onion Rings, and Tandoori Chicken are definitely something we order often!

Oota

If you want to eat the length and breadth of Karnataka, there's nothing like heading to Oota. The restaurant specialises in Karnataka food, especially from regions ranging from South Karnataka, the Canara coast, Mangalore, the Western Ghats, the Deccan tract of North Karnataka and the borderlands of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region. Their Goli Baje, Prawn Ghee Roast, Kaima Unde, Kundapur Chicken Curry, Mutton Rassa, Jolada Roti, and Kori Roti are to be savoured.

Karavalli

The iconic Karavalli at Taj Vivanta is an award-winning restaurant that's modelled after an old Mangolrean home with Chef Naren Thimmaiah and his team showcasing the best of what South India has to offer. Their strength lies in sourcing the best ingredients from the regions so everything from Kundapur coconuts to kachampuli from Kerala, there's a whole lot of regional cuisine for you to explore. We swear by their Neer Dosa, IdiyappamsKori GassiAllapuzha Meen Curry and Koli Barthad.

Sunny's

The European fare at Sunny's is a treat and this restaurant is set inside a bungalow with al fresco seating. A pet-friendly spot, brunch, lunch, dinner, or even date nights at Sunny's are always special. Their menu has been consistent and some of our favourites are still on the menu -- Chicken Diane, Roast Chicken, and Grilled Lamb Chops.

Toast & Tonic

Toast & Tonic is modelled in an East Village-style set-up that doubles up as a casual evening lounge. It's great for afternoon lunches with the girlies, date nights with the SO, and of course those happy dinners with the close friends. Their gin cocktails are one of the best in the city and Slow Smoked Ribs, Naga Chilli Chicken Wings, Asian-style Spicy Chicken, and Fried Chicken Sandwich are what we quite enjoy. The Cacio E Pepe, and Seol Chicken from the substantial eats are to be tried as well.

Daysie - All Day Casual Bar

Smack in the centre of town, we love how Daysie features an al fresco seating, private corners and glass-enclosed rooms. The all-day casual bar vibes are through and through with the space featuring a very vibrant, floral-inspired look. There's a lot on the menu and favourites are hard to pick but our go-to orders are Haleem Butter Toast, Beet Chop Seekh Kabab and The Blue Cheese & Poached Pear Flatbread. Do try the Salmon Papdi Chaat and Shrimp Pani Puri too. For drinks, the  Asian Daydream and Breezy Sundowner are our picks.

Social

With 8 Social outlets in the city, pick any -- from the first Social in the city (and country) Church Street Social to the newest Social in the city Nagvara Social. Good cocktails meet equally good finger food in a unique space at each location. Each has its vibe from the urban jungle that is Koramangala Social to the digital creator and NFT gallery space of New BEL Road. Oh and, the music acts, events, and showcases in spots like Indiranagar Social and Sarjapur Social make the space a whole lot more fun.

Yataii

The contemporary Japanese restaurant at Shangri-La will give you that bonafide Japanese experience with their range of sushi, tempura, and ramen there is. Salmon Carpaccio and Flamed Sushi Nigiri are what we recently ordered with their Tori Karage, Buta Yaki and Yakimeshi Pan-Fried Rice something that we would order again.

Wabi Sabi

Chef Randy Pielago Cultivo at Wabi Sabi, the Asian fine dining restaurant at The Oberoi has refreshed the menu while still retaining the popular classics. Enter signature sushi rolls such as Crimson Tide which features Peruvian asparagus and shichimi soy milk caviar or the Yuzu chicken meets Ponzu tomatoes situation of Yakuza Godfather. Plus, Omakase platters, and Chilean Seabass with Citrus Shiso Butter are something to look forward to.

LBBTip: The new menu is expected to go live Wednesday, 5 June onwards
