Shortcut

About an hour away from the city centre, Bilwa Fishing Hut is far from the madding crowd. Perfect for a day trip — there’s angling, chilling out and great views waiting for you.

What Is It?

Located on Magadi Road, just a few kilometres after the Nice Road exit, Bilwa Fishing Hut is nestled among lush farmland and faces the gorgeous backwaters of River Arkavathy. Perfect for a day trip where your time will be filled with activities such as boating, trekking, fishing and walking or just chilling. You can even choose to stay the night here at one of their two cottages or two tents. Better still, just take a big hang of friends and book the whole place!

How Was You Experience?

It was fantastic! All arrangements are made in terms of food, drinks, and accommodation. Carry your own drinks, like we did, if you are particular about what you want. If you’re going as a family, then tell them about your food preferences in advance. Don’t expect 5-star quality food — it’s simple, homely food. The folks at Bilwa had just caught fish right before we arrived, and fried it right there for us. Add to that delicious fish curry, chicken curry, flavourful dal and rice, and we had a fantastic feast!

Angling For Fun

If you are interested in fishing, then you need to carry your own equipment. They will happily organise the fish bait {read worms}. If you are a bit of a fish yourself, make sure to take your swimwear along as they have a swimming pool that overlooks the backwaters and the looming hills —best view point actually!

LBBTip

The last few kilometers to the house don’t really have a road. It’s more of a rough terrain, so best go in an SUV or at least in a car that has high enough clearance.

Also, this place is temporarily shut. Watch this space for more details on when it is open again.
