The new kid in Ashok Nagar, Double Decker is quirking things up with its decor and waffles. Adding to that is that massive rooftop space that’s perfect to chill with your squad.

Level Up

Located on the 4th Floor of Lancer Building, the same building where Nimisserie is, Double Decker packs quite an open-air space that you will enjoy, given how salubrious the weather of Bangalore can be {especially now with the rain}. Colourful sofas, swing chairs, and a terrace seating is what the space comprises of, along with murals and wall art. Plenty of selfie spots, our favourite being the giant mural of the bar’s take on the evolution of man. The terrace seating, that’s a mix of high tables and sofa offer you a view of the CBD skyline with the Vidhan Soudha’s dome visible on a good clear day. Come night time and the view gets all Insta-worthy. The rather massive screen that they put out during sports matches has our heart. You are likely to find us here from now on whenever United is playing.

Bar Nibbles, Waffles And Dessert

While the menu on Zomato looks quite extensive, the wooden ones that we got were comparatively lesser, but nonetheless a winner. Beer Battered Onion Rings and Egg Chilli stand out in the usual bar nibbles fare, with the chipotle mayo pairing well with the slightly greasy rings. Egg Chilli with its generous amount of masala was the perfect wingman for the Tequila Sunrise and Coke we ordered.

Now, while the vibe of the place is more for chill scenes and we usually don’t go beyond the starters menu at such places, interesting options in the mains did make us take another look. Waffles of different kinds such as Dosa, Ragi Mudde, Dhokla, Kappa {tapioca}, Puttu {steamed rice cakes}, and Adai {a type of dosa} Waffles are what stand out prominently amongst the Thai curries served with idiappams. We settled for the Dosa Waffle with Chettinadu Chicken Curry and boy, were we glad that we could dunk the perfectly cooked waffles in the spicy curry. Oh, and if you are wondering about the taste, the waffles tasted exactly like dosa. We wrapped up our meal with a chocolate mousse.

The bar menu is the usual fare of IMFL drinks, bottled and draught beer, and hard liquor along with signature cocktails. We hear sheesha is also on the menu, but we didn’t stick around too long to find out the flavours.

The indoor seating will be opening in a week’s time, we hear.
