What Is It?

Jazz lovers in the city are in for a treat this week! Bringing along their signature jazz music, the French band, EYM Trio will be in town, as part of their India tour with Alliance Francaise. Formed in 2010 at Lyon {France}, the three-piece band has Elie Dufour at the piano, Yann Phayphet on double bass and Marc Michel playing drums. Be it their first gig as a trio at the Amphitheater of the Opera of Lyon or their more recent performance at last year's Padova Jazz Festival {Italy}, they have come to be known for their music, which includes personal compositions, covers and traditional Bulgarian themes. They also have an album, Genesi to their credit.

Who Is It For?

From jazz aficionados and music enthusiasts to anyone hoping for an entertaining performance to start their weekend early, this one's bound to fit the bill. Throw in a drink or two and it couldn't get better!

Why Should I Go For It?

Drawing inspiration from Bulgarian themes, jazz legends like Duke Ellington and modern musicians like Joshua Redman, the trio's work includes covers of tracks like Bulgarian Bulge {Bulgarian folk tune-inspired music by American jazz musician, Don Ellis} and Paranoid Android by English rock band, Radiohead. We're hoping to catch them performing some of their original compositions as well; our favourite is Grand Pas with its intense speed and interesting melody.
