We were at RMZ Ecoworld to check out Nasi and Mee when we saw a poster that said Ecoworld and CoWorks were launching apparently India's first book vending machine in partnership with Frob. Obviously, the next thing we did was walk up to Ecodeck on the first floor of The Bay at RMZ Eco World and there were three vending machines that were stocked up with books. These book vending machines stock up on new and popular titles and bestsellers that have been curated by Frob, which is a book community that holds regular meet-ups to discuss books.
The vending machines work just like how you'd expect them to. There's a display panel that lets you choose a book, scan the UPI code to pay, and in a matter of seconds, your book is dispensed and you can pick it up. You can only select one book at a time. We love the novelty of this and how it's cool to just pick up a book by totally judging the book by its cover.
The collection of books includes everything from fiction (think Sudha Murthy, Ali Hazelwood, Paulo Cohelo, and Durjoy Datta) to self-help and management books that corporates would love.
