Ten-second takeaway
Featuring unique silks from across the country, the Ants Store and Café launches a new range of limited edition, handmade sarees crafted by traditional artisans.
Tradition meets modern
Launching on October 9, the preview of the Limited Edition Collection will be on at the Ants Store and we're thrilled. Catering to the contemporary woman {like ourselves, we believe}, the collection showcases sarees from all over India. The fabrics include Eri and Muga silks from Assam, soft Pashmina from Kashmir, Ilkal from Karnataka, and Ajrakh {hand-blocked} and Bandhini {tie-dye} from Gujarat, among others. Ladies can look forward to pretty pink, blue and earthy red apparel, which dominates the feminine collection and luckily blends ethnic and modern trends, making it quite versatile.
Drapes across the country
Produced without killing the silkworm, the Eri or Ahimsa silk has its origins in Northeast India. A perfect choice for the eco-conscious woman in you, the handspun Eri silk sarees have classy designs by Narmohan Das, who is known for his pioneering textile designs with the unique silk. The traditional and elegant Bandhini sarees on display are the handiwork of Khatri Zakiya Ayub, who belongs to a family line of artisans from Sindh. Keep it classic with the Ajrakh sarees from Kutch with their unique block-printed designs and patterns. While you’re at it, also check out the exclusive Chanderi sarees with Kasuti embroidery.
