Shravanabelagola Is The Weekend Getaway Your Instagram Account Will Love

The information in this post might be outdated

What Makes It Awesome?

Pick up your phones and DSLRs, put on your helmets, get astride your bike and zip away to Shravanabelagola, which is around 130km from Bangalore on Hassan highway.

The tarmac will bring a wide grin on your face. It has miles and miles of excellent driving conditions. And all you foodies needn't complain. Snack on some super spongy that idlis at Sri Manjunath, or buttery dosas at Shark Dhaba.

Take a left at Hirisave Village and wind your way through twisties to reach the foot of the hill. Hustle up approximately 600 steps {they are steep, mind you}. And then, you will see the tallest single monolith in the world - Bahubali.

The temple, the statue and the view are all Instagram gold. Visit the Chandragiri hill opposite this for more historical time travel.

What Could Be Better?

Nothing at all. So much parking and the place is very clean.

What's My Pro Tip?

Wear socks, as footwear isn't allowed up the hill.

Anything Else?

Don't expect a statue of Prabhas, this is the original Bahubali!
