Ten-Second Takeaway
For everyone who loves stories in different forms, Kahani Karnival is a one-day festival, packing in everything from storytelling and performances to workshops.
Tall Tales
Bringing a whole day of stories for the young and old {anyone aged 4 and above}, Kahani Karnival {a Mumbai-based children's literary festival} makes way to Bangalore for the first time! While the idea of tales told through books, art, music, dance and puppetry is appealing enough, we particularly love that they have sessions where popular stories are retold in interesting formats. Oh, and engaging workshops, author interactions and performances to look out for, happening across three spots at the venue!
What's In Store?
For little ones who've wondered about how Santa Claus manages to keep up his gift-giving tradition, there's storyteller, Madhumita Kapoor's session which will also let them write their own letters to Santa! While authors like Roopa Pai and Samhita Arni turn to epics and ancient scriptures to delve into relevant concepts, there are also interesting sessions that involve everything from understanding why we pick up a particular book, and creating a comic strip to the concept of shapes and sizes in animals, and even a bit of feminism.
Stories Galore
Want to ace storytelling? Author, Asha Nehemiah's session has quite a few tips and tricks for you. Blending poetry, prose, monologues and mime, Theatre Lab's performance offers a peek into selected works of authors like Rudyard Kipling, Roald Dahl and Oscar Wilde. While there are tales involving nature, language and dance, we're hoping to catch the retelling of popular stories like RK Narayan's Malgudi Days and Vikram Seth's Beastly Tales.
