Bringing together local elements and global styles, Bangalore brand Kaurwaki is giving traditional Indian weaves a contemporary makeover.

What Makes It Awesome

Specialising in fusion weaves, Kaurwaki is a Bangalore-brand that marries traditional clothes and patterns with modern cuts and designs that can be worn every day. Sourcing their weaves straight from local weavers from different parts of the country like Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, the brand creates cool casual wear that’s bound to trigger a few compliments.

We love their collection of cotton crop tops in abstract prints and bright pinks and greens — perfect for the oncoming summer. And their well-tailored jackets in Sambalpuri ikat make for great statement pieces. Their maxis are another thing we have our eyes on. Available in ikat and jamdani weaves, these easy breezy designs are a hit with us. You can also find dresses, culottes, trousers and tunics as well on their rails.

Started over two years ago by two friends Rituparna Sarangi and Neha Phull, Kaurwaki is hoping to bridge the gap between traditional textiles and contemporary clothing. They customise clothing as well, which means that you get to play designer and pick the style, cut and fit of your outfit and Kaurwaki will deliver a garment you’ll be happy with. You can shop their collection at their studio in Koramangala and online via Facebook and Instagram. You can also catch them at exhibitions and pop-ups as they frequently set up shop at these. So check them out and add a few Indo-Western gems to your closet.
