Open-Air Cinema, 3D Mapping, Fireworks & Tons Of Food: Head To Mysore’s 10-Day Winter Fest

If you thought you’re too cool for Mysore, then feel free to think again. They’re hitting you with one of the coolest Winter Festivals from December 23 all the way until January 1. Yup, that’s 10 days of pure carnival atmosphere, and with plenty of food to gorge on. The whole city will be prepped for this, with events such as open-air film screenings, heritage bicycle rides, flower shows, dances and plays, expected to take place at different venues.

Since Bangalore doesn’t really have one consolidated festival like this, the Mysore Winter Festival 2017 will be a fine way to enjoy the cooler winter days. And Mysore really doesn’t get the importance it should. So we’re going to go all out and say it’s for everyone. More so if you’re into culture, food and a hint of history. Since there will also be kiddy carnival, make it a family trip.

We’re most excited to see what the 3D mapping will look like on the grand Mysore Palace. We saw a stunning one on Sagrada Familia, in Barcelona, and we’re hoping that the exquisite architecture of this palace will help them come up with something stellar. Also, there’s going to be a film screening in the open air. And knowing Bangaloreans, that is something we’ll flock to see. Oh, and all you history buffs, sign up for the interesting bicycle ride that double up as a heritage tour of Mysore. On New Year’s Eve, there is going to be a fireworks show as well.

No festival is complete without food, yes? This one is no different. Expect a line-up of stalls that will dish out everything from piping hot pakodas, traditional biryani and perfect dosas to kebabs, Manchurian {had to be there!} and ice cream.

It really is the most wonderful time of the year!
