The first, and possibly best, licensed Stott Pilates centre, which can train and certify Pilates instructors, The Zone Mind and Body, is all about holistic fitness.
Started by Anjali and Sharat Sareen, The Zone Mind and Body in Koramangala, is a reflection of their combined approach to health and fitness – a very grounded and holistic one. And what we’ve learned from Anjali is that the key to correct exercise, is to listen to your body and go only as far as it can. So none of those crazy back-breaking moves here. It’s all about fluidity, strengthening the core and training the body from inside out. Being the country’s first and only licensed trainer’s trainer for Stott Pilates, you know you’re in good hands. If you’re looking to turn into a trainer too, she’s your go-to super star. Check out her certification courses here.
When we tried out her session, we genuinely felt a difference in our body, almost instantly. Muscles we never knew existed had gently been woken up, and while we worked up a good sweat, the body wasn’t tired when we did finish! Plus, there was no pressure to ignore our natural body forms in this form of Pilates, so that meant ease of movement, for us. The power of Pilates, obviously!
What we love about her session most is that she’ll give you personalised attention, even if it means coming to you in a group class to help you. She’ll even tell you how to use what you learn in her classes in other forms of exercises be it running, playing a sport, strength training or even Tai Chi. Her husband, Sharat’s sessions too are great, because he too believes that the one-size-fits-all approach is ineffective. That works fabulously for us whose activity on most days begins and ends with climbing a flight of stairs.
After classes on Saturday, join the Sareens and your fellow Pilates group to the darshini next door for dosa and filter coffee!
