Finding a parking spot on Commercial Street is akin to trying to bargain at a shop there — it’s nearly impossible. But according to this report on The Hindu, we hear that the BBMP is going to introduce a service that will let you pre-book parking space in the CBD, 10 minutes in advance. And to make matters simple, it’s through a mobile app. If you are wondering about the parking fares, well, it’s INR 15 to INR 30 for cars and INR 5 to INR 15 for two-wheelers, per hour. And this will also depend on which area exactly you’re hunting for a spot in. This might seem a little expensive given that there are free parking spaces around the area, but hey, when was the last time you got a parking space without having to wait?
While specific dates are not mentioned for the launch of this app, we hear it will cover 85 major roads in and around the CBD including BVK Iyengar Road, Chickpet, Sankey Road, and Nagarthepet Main Road.
