A top favourite but usually out of budget for most, head here for exceptional Vietnamese food. Featuring a veggie and non-vegetarian menu, there are a few common dishes, and we’re gunning for the Hanoi-style Corn Cake and Grilled Lamb Chop with Barbecue Sauce. Of course, the signature main is Wok Tossed Chicken or Beetroot and Beanshoot in Lemongrass and Chilli. Finish off with Lemongrass ice cream, naturally.

While the vegetarians can get paneer in forms and flavour like never before {think dumplings}, chargrilled artichoke or country figs with vegetables, it’s the carnivores who should celebrate. Kolkata beckti wrapped in a banana leaf, Dakhni Murgh Kebab {chicken marinated with pepper, garlic, chilli and curry leaf} and of course the appetiser signature – Balkash Rubina which is tiger prawn cooked in yoghurt, yellow chilli and saffron. But don’t load up too much as the garlic infused lamb curry and the Baluchi special, slow-cooked black dal are part of the mains.

For mains, Grilled Snapper with nimbu relish and moilee cream, and Chicken Roulade essenced with rusvaa in a biryani composition. Veggies can indulge in fenugreek and pea gnocci and Bihari pithri pockets stuffed with spinach and cottage cheese. End with Mishti Doi Brulee.

If it’s Chinese, the Oberoi has got to on top of your list. Keep your eye on the prize and by that we mean on the crispy lotus stem in homemade chilli sauce, fried prawn with lemon grass and garlic and twice cooked pork in XO sauce. Leave room for mains. More specifically, leave room for Tofu Claypot with assorted mushrooms for vegetarians and Steamed Fish in XO sauce for the others.

Easy, breezy and unmistakably Mediterranean, go here for spot on Calamari Fritos, Pumpkin soup and the much sought after Tortilla de Patata {Spanish omelets loaded with potato and onions.
