Ten-Second Takeaway

Designer Ritu Kumar's launched a capsule collection, and these outfits totally need to go into the essential pile of your wardrobe. Plus they are slightly more affordable than her other designer collections.

Back To Basics

Ritu Kumar, who's chosen Kalki Koechlin as the face of her capsule collection #StripToBasics, and for all the right reasons too, is out with her collection of basic yet trendy outfits for the everyday woman. Simple tunics with pleats, modestly long dresses that can be worn as tunics too, with jeans and spaghetti tank tops are what we're heading straight for. In soothing shades of white, olive, black, grey, these outfits can be worn from boardrooms to bars. There's even a lovely red if you're feeling bold.

The collection also features stylish jogger pants, high-waisted palazzo trousers and comfy yoga pants. In timeless cuts and soft fabrics, our favourites include these snug culottes in mint, this basic red dress to nail that Angelina Jolie look and this cutesy short dress in olive. The offerings largely make us feel like lazily lounging on our beds with some tea {or coffee} and get up in a jiffy and go out, if needed. And if you're someone who doesn't like making too much of an effort dressing up to go out, these are pretty foolproof options. That said, some of the items in the collection end at a size large and don't cater to plus-sized women, and in all honesty, the outfits are a bit too steep for basics, but well, that's designer-wear for you!
