Savji And Malnad Food Festival

What Makes It Awesome?

Savji community hails from Madhya Pradesh and has been settled in Maharashtra and Karnataka. They have an exquisite style of cooking. Malenadu(an area where rains are more in Kannada) is the central districts of Karnataka. With abundant rainfall here, we see that there is again a different cuisine which comes to existence like Appe Saru etc. The Savji and Malnad food festival has started in Cobaja and ends on 31 August.

The dishes which we have in this festival is unique and interesting. For soups, we get Nati Koli Saaru or country chicken curry made as soup, also Appe Kai or raw mango rasam infused with coconut is something amazing and it's a must-try.

The Ghee Roast here is phenomenal and not much I can tell you about it. Yelekosu Vada or Vada made with Cabbage is another attraction which has corn mixed in it. The Karnataka Usli Platter is what all Kannada households have everyday at home the platter constitutes of Hesarubele Kosambari, Kaalu Usli, and Moong dad usli, where usli means a tadka of coconut with the dals.

Coming to the main course, Kheema Balls made my day!! Green chilli based minced meat was perfectly made. Edmee is another Malnad preparation where it is mostly a spicy Puri. Mutton Kadan is a Savji gravy eaten with coconut rice. Neer dosa and chicken liver can be had with mutton kadan.

Desserts include Kai Holige, Gasagase Payasa and Cheenikay Kadabu

With Quarter bottle cocktails and soul-soothing music, this place is amazing!!
