Give your taste buds plenty to savour and think about as Toast & Tonic unveils a series of Sharing Tables that takes you on a global, culinary journey.

Experiments On A Plate

World cuisine showcased through local ingredients – that’s always been the mantra that drives Toast & Tonic’s kitchen. And it is also the guiding principle behind the Sharing Table series that they have just launched. On April 18, the restaurant hosted the first event that saw food lovers, from all walks of life, gather to sample a five-course experimental menu centred around the ‘BBQ of The World’ theme.

Spearheaded by Chef Chirag Makwana, Sous Chef at Toast & Tonic, the experience shined a light on barbecue traditions from across the globe. First, we wolfed down pint-sized Pulled BBQ Jackfruit and Cheddar scones that went splendidly with our Gin & Tonics. We then sat down to chomp on the smokey Eggplant & Seizan Yakatori that was doused in the gentle sweetness of the miso glaze. Next up was Argentina’s turn with the Pork Tenderloin Matambare which turned out a bit too dry for our taste. However, we loved the creamy, meaty and salty stuffing that was made up by the homemade chorizo, the chimichurri sprinkled eggplant, and pickled mushrooms.

Star Grazing

The star of the evening, however, was the Chicken Leg Dakgangjeong – juicy bits of chicken leg that was coated in a glistening sauce and served with crunchy, flavourful Kimchi Gobindobhog rice. Everyone unanimously voted this as a favourite. However, the table was divided on the Texas Style Smoked Brisket that followed. While many found it a bit too smoky, we loved the roastiness of the meat and the cheesy grits that went with it. Nobody had any trouble mopping up dessert which was a silken Grilled Pineapple Custard that was adorned with bits of chilli sponge, smoked black rice puffs, and served with burnt vanilla ice-cream.

This experience was priced at INR 2325+ taxes per head. Toast & Tonic looks to host its next Sharing Table event on June 6, 2018.

#LBBTip

Each event will feature different menus and cuisines, so don’t go expecting this.
