What Makes It Awesome

One stop shop for swathes of silk cotton and silk fabrics in Bangalore. Forget MSU and Commercial Street, and head to Maa Fabrics to get the colour and the type of silk you want to up your ethnic game this Festive season. This store is one of the oldest ones in town. The silks here come from the tribal forested areas, particularly from around Bhagalpur in Bihar, Malda from West Bengal and Sualkuchi from Assam. The classic tusser and muga silks that you won't find anywhere else in Bangalore, you will find here. And the colours are just as mesmerising as the fabric itself.

Apart from fabrics they also keep traditional silk dupattas and silk saris, like you get in Fab India, except at better prices. The muga silk from Assam is one of the costliest silks in India and IB Maa Fabrics sources it from there.

What's My Pro Tip?

The muga silk saris usually start at INR 6000 onwards so go grab one for Diwali this year. They even have a hand block printing workshop here where you can customize block prints on the fabric that you can buy from the store. There are hundreds of designs and patterns available to choose from. So don't waste more time and leave already!

Anything Else?

The store is located in a busy area so parking may be an issue. Plan your visit accordingly. Also, select the fabric first and then get the block printing customised. The regular silks are priced at INR 600 onwards and silk cotton for much less. Also, silk dupattas are priced INR 1250 onwards.
