For a nominal monthly subscription, The Book Bar rents you their books so you can continue to fund your reading habit without going broke. Choose from over 1,500 books across genres at this Nandhini Layout haunt, near Malleswaram.

Book Hopping

Finally! A bar we can guiltlessly walk into. The Book Bar is for all you bookaholics out there who are finding it harder and harder to sustain your book habit on a budget. For a fee of INR 300 to INR 400, rent up to four books a month from genres like fiction, non-fiction, autobiographies, comics, philosophy, self-help and more. With around 100 to 200 books in each genres, you should have plenty to pick and choose from. From novels by Agatha Christie, Paulo Coelho and John Grisham to Steve Jobs’ and Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiographies, they have plenty of tomes to bury your nose into.  Kiddos don’t miss out either with a whole collection of children’s books on offer here too {think classics like Amar Chitra Katha} and their memberships only cost INR 200. Only operational on the weekends {which is our prime reading time!} from 9am to 5pm, stock up on a week’s worth of reading material while you’re here.

The Book Nook

The Book Bar has plans of expanding in future and is in the process of collaborating with co-working spaces to make books more accessible to all. In a matter of weeks, you should be able to find their books on the shelves of Goodworks, a co-working space in Whitefield. The whole aim is to promote a reading habit among people by making them accessible and affordable.
