What Makes It Awesome

Gingee Fort, 84km from Puducherry is a bliss in ignorance. Not much well known, not so visitor friendly, this fort definitely looks forward to some attention and investment from tourism department. This is good location for hikers and adventure lovers and definitely pays you back with a thrill of seeing the city from an altitude of almost 825 feet. One who is ready to climb some hard steps of hills can get a glimpse of view of city and bountiful nature.
One should have caps, sunglasses and trekking shoes to climb up, Better avoid the summer days or visit during the early hours of the day to avoid direct sun rays which heat up the stony and rocky steps to the fort.
The monkeys may watch you while you are climbing up but need not be worried if you are not carrying food with you. The best way to enjoy is to carry a water bottle and small energy bites in a backpack.
The time required to complete a round trip to the fort is around 2 to 3 hours.
Once one reaches the top, there are remnants of forts that you can capture in your camera and are not visible from downstairs. Rest enough before you start your trip to the entrance down.
I liked the astounding view and the cool breeze when I reached the top. This is definitely a good adventure for fitness freakiest too.

What Could Be Better?

Drinking water, proper sitting place and clean toilets are required. The entry fees can be hiked for making it a visitor friendly tourist spot.

What's My Pro Tip?
