Strike An Asana

Getting onto the fitness bandwagon this year? Well, we’ve heard that before! And we’re as guilty of swiftly jumping off the wagon come February. Luckily, however, we’ve discovered a cool new workout that ticks off two of our most integral criteria — the workout needs to be strengthening, and it must be functional. Imagine our delight when we found Thrive Fitness Studio, hidden in Koramangala and further discovered that it blends Yoga and weight training. Boom, so much win.

Called Sculpt Yoga, Thrive Fitness Studio is touted to be the only space in the city which teaches this form of exercise. Radhika Gnanaprakash is the founder, and with experience teaching this hybrid form of yoga in Chicago for numerous years, and also being a pro at Zumba and Bolly aerobics, you’re in safe hands through your fitness regime.

Light Weight

If you’re the sort who loves to listen to music while working out, and have thus avoided Yoga for its serene session, we have news for you. Yoga Sculpt is taught to upbeat music to keep you energised through the class. In its basic form, Yoga postures are integrated with light weights. Don’t go thinking that you’ll be pumping some serious iron. This is only meant to increase muscle awareness and ensure you’re a lean, mean, yoga machine. In addition to yoga, the session also has plyometrics and cardio to make a well-rounded workout. Plus, it keeps you flexible and energised. We love that there are cardio bursts in the workout that make it a somewhat HIIT session, that’s great to boost stamina and will keep your heart healthy.

We’re sold on this kind of pumped up yoga. You?
