Feel guilty about seeing tons of plastic bags, straws, utensils etc., especially wash up on our lovely shores? Most of us Chennaites have always been an environmentally conscious lot and so it comes as a much appreciated move that the State government has decided to ban plastic starting January 1, 2019. According to this report in The Hindu, the making, selling and storing of disposable will not be entertained starting next year. Although there will be a few exceptions for daily use items like food (milk, oil and curd) and medical utility packets, expect to hopefully never again see plastic carry bags, cups, plates and more. Here’s hoping to see Tamil Nadu as plastic-free zone!
