What is it?
Spring is here, can theatre be far behind? With colleges putting up their annual productions and there being general chaos around NSD, the Mahindra Excellence Awards are back in town. One of a kind and one of the biggest festivals of the year, META acknowledges and showcases the best of theatre over the course of one glorious week.
Across eight languages and shortlisted from 300 entries, we’re super excited about Mein Huun Yusuf Aur Ye Hai Mera Bhai, After Death – The Spiritual Journey, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and more.
Who is it for?
Thespians, this one's for you. And of course, anybody else who enjoys watching stellar plays.
Why Should I Go for it?
META is one of the many ways of promoting and celebrating the diverse elements one finds in theatre across the country. They will be awarding plays on the basis of playwriting, set design, costume and light design, direction and performance.
The awards will consist of a uniquely designed trophy and a cheque of INR 1,00,000 for the Best Production, INR 75,000 for Best Original Playwright and INR 45,000 for all other award categories.
