You can always depend on good old Sarojini for your budget shopping, whether it’s coats and boots in winter or strappy sandals and summery dresses for this season. From shirt dresses for work, to boho maxis for brunch, we managed to score 5 summer dresses under INR 1,000. Here are the places we scored our loot from, so you know exactly where to go and how much to bargain for.

Stall No. 105

These guys have shirt dresses in a variety of colours and prints {if you’re petite, they have options for sizes}. They’re ideal for work and super-comfortable,the quality isn’t half as bad either {none of these are synthetic}. This stall also has a lot of colourful pants, including some linen knock-offs which look like the real thing and cost one-quarter of the price.

Arbind's Stall

We found a bunch of gorgeous maxis at Arbind’s stall next to the Durga mandir {this one doesn’t have a number}. Just ask for him and you’ll spot a tiny stall with a variety of summery dresses and jumpsuits. Make sure you rifle through everything they have. They also have some nice tops you can pick up. This floral maxi instantly caught our eye; it’s bright, summery and perfect for brunch or for that Goa trip you’ve been planning with the gang.

The Lane Opposite The Old Tree Lane

This bustling, open lane {sometimes known as the ‘tunnel lane’} has all sorts of garments hanging off the walls (you know which one we’re talking about, smack in the middle of the market). This place is a treasure trove for all sorts of dresses, lingerie and even swimwear. We found this blue cotton maxi that’s perfect for a beach hanging sesh. If you’re into denim dresses, they have them in a variety of designs and lengths.

Discount Racks

Remember seeing all those INR 200 and INR 100 racks in Sarojini? While shoppers usually pass these without a second glance, we decided to put our last 100 rupee note to good use. We were surprised to see that some of these racks actually have dresses that look pretty great. These racks require some serious detective skills but we were more than happy with our find. This LBD fit like a glove and cost us a mere INR 100. We recommend you go through all these racks carefully the next time, you could score an outfit for a night out for next to nothing.

The Lane Opposite The Old Tree Lane

We also found a cute monochrome number that’s super comfy and casual {we instantly loved it}. However, it turned out to be a very deceptively loose playsuit, but, hell, what’s Sarojini without a few surprises!
