Delhi International Queer Theatre & Film Festival 2017

Delhi International Queer Theatre and Film Festival (DIQTFF) is a brave initiative by Harmless Hugs – one amongst the biggest youth oriented LGBTQ support group in India. The Film Festival is intended to connect with larger Diaspora of Indian LGBTQ struggle for equal human rights, and to reach out to masses via the omnipotence of Media and Cinema. We also have a strong line up of stirring theatre performances and more. Movie screenings and plays are well complimented by a round of panel discussions and debates, including some of the biggest names from the Indian LGBTQ Movement. We would venture into the tumultuous territories of politics, gender disparity, coming out and involvement of families and more. With this project, we aim to re-ignite the LGBTQ movement for equal human rights. Along with reclaiming our rights for equality and freedom of expression, with DIQTFF we intend to put the word out that LGBTQ Lives Matter! Besides, the scope of the project gains further significance as we are planning a number of inclusive and outreach activities. Here, we shall also display the long-standing camaraderie with allies, and also touch on important chapters like coming out, emotional well-being, and most importantly, sensitizing and reaching out to the families and other untouched (perhaps homophobic) strata of the society. HINDI TRANSLATION Delhi International Queer Theatre and Film Festival, Harmless Hugs द्वारा‌ ‌LGBTQIA कम्यूनिटी के लिए लायी ‌गयी अपनी तरह की एक अनोखी पहल है। ये फिल्म फेस्टिवल LGBTQIA कम्यूनिटी के लिए समान नागरिक अधिकारों के लिए संघर्षरत लोगों के मनोबल को ऊंचा करने और समाज तक उनकी आवाज पहुंचाने का एक जरिया है। एक बहुत मजबूत पैनल डिस्कशन और वोटिंग के द्वारा चुनी गई ये फिल्में और थियेटर परफॉर्मेंसेस लेकर आएंगे आपके सामने वो जलते हुए पहलू जो छुएंगे कम्यूनिटी से जुड़े राजनीतिक, लैंगिक असमानता‌, कमिंग आउट, परिवार की भूमिका जैसे मुद्दे और और भी बहुत कुछ। इस फेस्टिवल के द्वारा हम ताकत देना चाहते हैं उस आंदोलन को जो सभी को बराबर सामाजिक दर्ज़ा दिलाने की मांग करता है। ना सिर्फ ये, हम इस फेस्टिवल के द्वारा LGBTQIA कम्यूनिटी की जिंदगी को रंगना चाहेंगे स्टेज और पर्दे पर और दिखाना चाहते हैं कि ये जिंदगीयां भी उतनी ही ज़रूरी हैं जितनी कि बाकी सब। इस इवेंट का महत्व और भी ज्यादा इस बात से बढ़ जाता है कि इस इवेंट में कई तरह की इन्क्लूसिव और आउटरीच एक्टिविटीज पर जोर दिया जाएगा। इस इवेंट का मुख्य उद्देश्य अवेयरनेस क्रीएट करना और सभी को एक बेहतरीन समाज बनाने के लिए शिक्षित करना है। आइए हम सब मिलकर सक्सेसफुल बनाते हैं हार्मलेस हग्स के इस खूबसूरत इनीशिएटिव को।
