Those of you looking to explore a unique menu in a peaceful setting, Aerocity has a new place called Monsoon and it is as tranquil as the name suggests. Another venture by Cafe Lota, all items on the menu come with a twist and local ingredients that will have you wanting more. Here’s our take on some of the top picks.

Small Eats, Biiggg Smiles

One look at the menu and we guarantee you would want to try every dish on that. With an exciting range of small eats, this place will be your new go-to spot for the week! We began the much-awaited food tour with Buckwheat pancakes topped with mushroom, spring onion and zarai cheese. These beautiful slices of heaven come with a spicy chilly garlic chutney adding just the right amount of flavour to the dish. Next up was a portion of their odd veg kebabs - beetroot, pumpkin and mung bean, bottle gourd and mushroom make for an exciting date with veggies. Without much ado we dug into their Prawn Pepper Stir Fry where the prawns were rightly spiced and a must-try. Their lemon and ginger chicken is that one friend who will never disappoint ‘cos they’re sooo good!

While our tummy did a happy dance, little did we know what a feast awaits us. Armed with fresh cutlery, we began with their Tamarind Fish, which let’s be clear, will heal any South Indian’s craving for an authentic fish dish. This was followed by Dhokar which is green pea and split chickpea dal dumplings in a traditional Bengali mustard curry complete with hot luchis. Again, we highly recommend you try this. Now, for the star and the talk of the town - Monsoon’s signature Broccoli Makhni that comes with a portion of pudina paratha. Before we dive into how brilliant this dish is, whoever thought broccoli could help vegetarians FINALLY know what butter chicken tastes like, take a bow! Whole broccoli in a malai marinade with a butter chicken-like gravy makes us believe that the world continues to be a better place. With an unstoppable grin we saw the meat kulchas appear before us and it was love at first sight. Stuffed with goat meat and bone marrow with a side of garlic raita the flavors were irresistible.

Weight-watchers, Monsoon has you covered as well with their Choriz Pulao - organic quinoa cooked with Goan chorizo sausage, roasted bell peppers, zereshk berries with a sunny side up egg (total drool-fest). Finally on to the desserts, we tasted two of their signatures - millet kheer topped with salted caramel and almonds AND chocolate torte. One word to describe both? DELIGHTFUL! The chocolate used in the torte is not only organic but also sourced from within India, as are most of their ingredients across dishes. Monsoon had us at hello and we have proposed our love to their menu, you are all invited to the wedding!

So, We’re Saying…

Be it a mid-week craving between meetings or a weekend to chill with family and friends this new outlet is ticking all the right boxes for us. Set in beautiful interiors that reflect the season of Monsoon and food that is absolutely eccentric, we are rooting for this!

Pro Tip: The restaurant is soon going to get beer and wine license which means you have no more excuses to not visit!
