The façade is familiar, it’s Lavaash by Saby, but this time in a ‘baby’ avatar, a ‘deli’ version of the Bengali-Armenian bistro that we know all too well.
Lowdown On The AmbienceThe brightly-lit interiors extend the Lavaash experience with an impressive wall size mural of the majestic peacock, a symbol of Lavaash, the brand.
With about eight covers on the ground floor and another 20 or so on the first floor, this is exactly what the office complex, Global Foyer needed. Add chef Neha Lakhani’s desserts to chef Saby’s Armenian breads selection and you have yourself a gourmet deli experience in the offing. There’s coffee, tea and juices, so get comfortable, flip open your laptop and eat while you work, commune or chill.
Must EatAt a place like this, it's super tough to decide what to eat and what to pack I suggest you do a bit of both. Start with a pizza, for vegetarians it has got to be the Jurassic 4 Cheese, and a carnivore can choose Lamb Mince.
Take a moment and inquire about the selection of Armenian breads, from the Matnakash to the Pidey, which is best had with a topping of bacon. The most familiar is likely to be the brioche, which is an awesome buy for eggs you can poach at home.
Then comes the best part, the desserts: The Double Crumble Apple Tart is a delight. My must-haves include pillowy, square doughnuts called Ponchikis, filled with Nutella {or custard}. The cheesecakes are some of the finest, the cookie crumb base and cherry topping is literally the cherry on the cake, but for a smaller bite there are the little Toffee Cheesecake bites, packed like toffees!
The puddings and mousses are all served either in masala chai glasses or earthenware bowls, which Lavaash Deli is happy to pack.
Must DrinkHave the cold coffee, it’s a dark, strong shot of espresso, milk and ice cubes, no faff, no frills, all good. If you want something hot, again choose the coffee, a cappuccino works really well with the selection of cookies over the counter.
What We LovedThe best part has got to be the bright environs that allow you to be seated surrounded by food.
What Didn't Impress UsIt’s a good feeling when you walk into a café or deli that satisfies you in every way, from the variety to the ambience and service. Can’t wait for the complete menu to roll out, though.
What Is The Best Time To Visit? This is an all-day dining deli with plenty of reasons to make it a perfect place for meetings and working away from home or office. A morning start, with coffee and muffins, make most sense though.
#LBBTipDon’t forget to ask for what’s new or what's just been baked; the chefs are always at work and the aroma is a perfect way to tell what’s going on in the kitchen.
