Getting gigs is difficult, right? Astaaq believed so too, until one day he just took over his parents' basement and hosted his own little gig, and that's how, Basement Takeover was born.
Basement Takeover is an initiative by Astaaq through which, he's trying to make the music industry more artist-friendly. Starting out as a fresh face in the game can be tough for sure. The rejection artists get despite making magical music is what Basement Takeover is trying to help with, and they're clearly acing it. They've had some amazing bands, singer, and songwriters (like Zenguin, Dhruv Visvanath, Zokova, Submarine in Space) play at the venue (which is the basement) and a beautiful set of audience to play for.
They have two variants of shows that are super lit (and it's BYOB). One is the Basement Takeover (Astaaq's flagship show), which is high energy and hosts only bands (and happens on a Saturday). The second variant- Basement Takeover: Sunday Sundowner, is held in a more small, intimate sit-down environment and showcases only new and upcoming singer songwriters (is held on Sundays).
If you're interested in playing at Basement Takeover, slide through @basementtakeover's DMs. Performing here is absolutely free. You should also follow them to know about the upcoming show announcements and all that other jazz (haha, get it?).
