Best Of 2017: Top 10 Bars That Opened Up & Got Us Hammered This Year!

The information in this post might be outdated

2017 was tipsy AF; with so many new bars opening up around town, we couldn’t help but stay constantly buzzed {or hungover, more like}. With a cocktail in hand and a second one on the way, here’s our boozy collection of the top 10 bars {in no particular order} that opened up this year.

The Bar Cat

The Bar Cat, D-town’s latest Jazz club, is a huge, two-floored space with a rooftop and another floor downstairs where the magic {read: live music performances, plays, stand-up comedy} happen in front of you as you sit back and sip on some stellar cocktails. And yes, everything from the music to the cocktails to the food to the decor is a throwback to the 20s era.

Bohca

You’ll probably find a long queue of boozed up night dwellers trying to get in here on the weekends, so we suggest you book a table in advance. Bohca sprouted up earlier this year and, judging by the massive crowd inside, instantly became the weekend go-to for all of Delhi. You’ll find potent LIITs, delicious food, and whole lot of dancing here, so we suggest you put your groovin’ shoes on.

Local

Just when we thought CP was done experimenting, Local came around to stir things up. It opened its doors to party-hoppers with a lavish launch, and we made multiple trips just to test out food from their Chinese Van and chakhna platters. They’re calling it Delhi’s first street food bar, so it’s got a great mix of party music and bharatiye snacks for a night scene with the gang.

Junglee Cafe

Junglee Cafe recently opened its doors at the famous 100-feet road in Chattarpur, and the place just does not seem to shut down—it’s open till 3am! The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating, full of colourful cushions and seats. The outdoor area overlooks the Qutub Minar. Pair that with a smooth hookah and you’re golden. It’s also walking distance from the metro station, making it super-accessible for everyone.

Whisky Samba

This is where the palate cleanser is a cocktail, a Whisky Sour Sorbet with fermented water lily and passion fruit bubbles. Ask for the house-made marshmallows and jujubes to be transported back to your childhood, or head to the future of desserts with the Samba Style After Eight, which has a Magnum style ice cream bar made with fresh mint, no syrups or sauces happening here.

Bombay Bar

Unfortunately, we can’t get Bombay’s beach to Delhi so Bombay Bar’s got the next best things: Bollywood, food and a typical retro, Bombaiyya bar feel. Just a few months old, this is the place to head for offbeat cocktails and a taste of the city’s ever-so-famous street food. If you like partying to filmy music, even better.

Time Machine

It’s got the longest bar in all of Noida and amazing views of the skyline. So, we’re told it goes from being a chill lounge in the day and a party place as the sun goes down. The massive space comes with an indoor and outdoor area and a very steam punk vibe. The idea is to transport every diner to a different time zone, {hence the name}. They’ve also gone OTT with the mechanical gears, steel fixtures and rustic lights.

Kai Bar

The Kylin Experience in GK N-Block has a new addition on their terrace. Called Kai Bar, this retro Oriental terrace is switching things up with a cocktail menu that’ll keep you going back, and baos so good, the taste  will haunt you {in a good way}. It has an Oriental look with wall art, a bright red chandelier and the framed artworks which, at once, strike you as soothing. Quiet time with the hang? This is where you need to head.

Hong Kong Club

The club is inspired by the love story of an Indian sailor, who finds his lady love in Hong Kong, and the vibe and food captures the couple’s adventures through the tiniest streets. They’ve got cocktails based on Chinese zodiacs and authentic Cantonese food. A night of partying with the gang or a filling lunch with the family, Hong Kong Club has it all.

Noida Bar Exchange

The new Noida Bar Exchange By Smaaash is open in DLF Mall of India, complete with LED tickers, screens and the amazing stock market gong, so expect everything but a drinks menu. In keeping with the whole trading theme, the prices of the drinks fluctuate, and you can monitor them and order drinks in real time through the app.

The best news: The market crashes once every day so your poison might hit an all-time low and you can score beer at as low as INR 95 or house wines at INR 60.
