What Is It?

A large dinner buffet and a packed restaurant, Infinity at Crowne Plaza Mayur Vihar is a surprise. Giving guests a chance to taste multiple dishes from different regions, the hotel is running a fest, Taste of India, till September 23. Dishes from the Konkan belt, Kashmir, Punjab, Bengal, and Rajasthan are bound to woo diners. Each day is a different one and you will find a different regional dish on your plate.

When I visited, the General Manager and the Executive Chef had put together a special dinner in which we got to taste flavours from across the country. It was the freshness of the food, the bite-sized portions in this tasting session, and the presentation that deserved kudos. I particularly liked the Paneer ki Bansari, Dal Nariyal ka Shorba, and Palak Baloochi Kofta with smoked tomato paneer makhani.

The soft paneer wrapped in a crispy layer and served on a bed of sevaiyan was quite a yum starter. The shorba or soup was actually served in a coconut shell and was full of flavours. It wasn’t even piping hot, which means we didn’t have to wait for it to cool and didn’t burn our tongues.

But it was the crunchy palak covering the kofta that was unforgettable. I tasted the veg flavours, but there's meat too—fish, prawns, chicken, and lamb. The meal ended with Chocolate Dome with Indian delicacies, it was pure sin and it’s available on the menu too, should you miss it now.

As the hotel is packed with foreigners, the flavours are light and the spices easy. And remember, it’s a dinner-only fest.
