Old-timers will remember a time when hanging out in Noida was something that had to be defended with a solid back story. It either involved a fellow Noida dweller, or not enough pocket money to make the trip to the capital.

But that’s history now.

Welcome these lat{t}ecomers who’ve filled the lives of Noida peeps with joy and java. These cafes have made it possible for us hold our head high and wipe off that cappuccino moustache without being judged for our choices. Group hug, everyone!

Consider this Noida’s own version of a Shahpur Jat café, complete with white furniture, warm teapot lights and hand painted artwork. We love that they’re stirring things up with offerings like After Dinner Mint Coffee and Almond Roca Coffee.

Even the range of teas, between Kaafir Lime, Apple and Cinnamon, Fresh Basil and Ginger and other hot and cold variants is on our must-try-when-not-coffeeing list.

DLF Mall of Noida has way too many coffee places with Barista, Cinnabon, Dunkin Donuts, Costa Coffee and The Coffee Bean and Tea Lea—but if we had to play favourites, we’d say that we’re going to stick to The Artful Baker – delightful macaroons, pastries, gluten-free cakes and cold coffee.

This is every Noida person’s chance to pretend that they’re in Italy – the soothing whites, florals, and pasta make it somewhat possible. The hot and cold teas and coffees {some of which also come in baby portions} work well when you catch up with forgotten frenemies and devour the waffles and spaghetti.

This compact little nook bakes fresh bread and has graffiti on the wall. Bursts of colour in the form of blue windows and an Italian-ice cream-parlour canopy make coffee times even more fun. Our picks: Freshly brewed coffee, double espresso and cold coffee hazelnut.

Where: G 56, Sector 18

Forgive us but we can’t espress{o} our love enough for this place – the leader of the cool revolution. Anyhow, we’ll just leave you with the confession that Theos has mastered the brew code and has been satiating our random cravings for cold coffee, smoothies and jumbo shakes for a long time – and it’s pretty darn successful at it.

Hardcore java junkies might find the menu falling short with limited options such as hot chocolate, cappuccino, masala tea and herbal tea, but hey, they also do healthy fare and waffles and shakes {Kit Kat shake gets our vote}.

Basically, there’s something for all kind of chill scenes that involve slouching in those cane chairs and discussing career plans under dim lights and clouded judgment {their hookah gets a fair share of regulars}.

Price: INR 55 for a cappuccino
