You Can Soon Register Marriages, Get Govt. Certificates & More At Home!

The information in this post might be outdated

From July onwards, Delhi residents will be able to access 40 government services like marriage registration, getting new water/sewage system connections, avail old-age pension schemes and more from the comfort of their homes.

Under the Aam Aadmi Party’s project of ‘doorstep delivery of key services’, Delhites can fix an appointment with a ‘Mobile Sahayak’ via a phone number (to be finalised soon). The police-verified Mobile Sahayaks will visit your house at the designated time to pick up documents, record biometric details, take photos, process applications, and will also home-deliver the certificates for an approximate fee of INR 50.

This means that you won’t have to go all the way to the government offices, or wait there for hours to get your work done. Services that will be available at your doorstep with the launch of this project are: Certificates of caste, birth, income, death, driving licences, transfer of ownership of vehicles, amongst many others. After the first phase, 60 more services will be added to this scheme.

Both the Delhi Cabinet and Delhi’s LG have approved this project, and it is now expected to be rolled out by the end of July.

We first read about it here.
