Shivani, a NIFT Delhi alumnus realised that as a design student, she’d accumulate loads of paper waste due to her college projects and as a result of free time, started making products out of them. This past-time soon converted into a full-fledged business and she turned out to be the brains behind Kaagaz, a brand that makes customisable stationery, decor and gifting products from waste paper.
We are talking envelopes, bookmarks, trays, coasters and even fridge magnets, all handmade. She also started to incorporate MDF with waste paper to make the resultant products more durable and moisture resistant. Think coasters made from hard coloured paper and bookmarks from MDF and magazine cutouts. Kaagaz only uses natural colourings such as turmeric and vermilion and the raw materials for their paper products include corn husks and even vegetable peels. The best part is that here, sustainability doesn’t come at a cost as the products are affordably priced, anywhere between INR 50 for a bookmark - INR 800 for a tray. The brand delivers pan-India and the order will take a week to 10 days to reach depending on customisations.
