Doodle Rack in Jaipur’s Civil Lines is perfectly located in a quiet quarter not too far from the main city. It’s got a terrace, a barbecue, a library and free Wi-Fi at a super affordable price – and it loves both party animals and introverted peace seekers in equal measure.

Doodle Days Ahead

Abhishek Choudhary, the man behind the budget hostel, had gone to South America for an internship, some three years ago. While there, he got acquainted with a bunch of these cosy places that didn’t dent his measly student budget. After he got back to Jaipur, he decided to create a similar accommodation for travellers coming to his hometown because hey, not all of us can afford infinity pools and restored havelis.

Starting at INR 250 a night, you can choose between the dorms or keep it exclusive with their modestly priced deluxe room. In keeping with Jaipur’s love for colours and quirk, this hostel has a lot of vibrant wall art {think of it as Kindergarten meets Rajasthan emporium}.

The hostel wears a homely vibe and they organise movie nights and moonlit walking trips so you can soak in the city’s peculiar character but spend the night at a safe place. And, as you bond with fellow bunk bed inhabitants, you can enjoy karaoke sessions or movie marathons. Or, you know, there’s Wi-Fi everywhere and an open patio to read and erm…chill.

About And Around

If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll know our weakness for pretty cafes and to our delight, there are so many of them spattered around this area. Check this list and cycle to a new place for every meal. When you’re done eating the daal baati, you can explore these bazaars nearby for colourful home decor, juttis and bandhani dupattas.

Another great thing about staying in this part of town is that you can hop over to Amer Fort, Nahargarh Fort and City Palace are winting driving distance while Hawa Mahal and other iconic spots around can be easily covered on hired bicycles.

So, We're Saying...

Call your mates for a road trip or sneak in some alone time with a book away from Delhi’s chaos… Such value for money places are hard to come by every day.
