The Book Bird India Library in Gurgaon is a new library that's got a staggering number of books (a whopping 5,000) and they add another 500 every month.

What Makes It Awesome

We had a word with the founders, Amit and Onusha, who decided they'd had enough of their corporate jobs and decided they wanted to give back to the community. Both avid readers, they decided to start a library to encourage people of all age groups to read (a habit that's we're all guilty of woefully neglecting). We heard from friends that they've got an incredible selection of books—from children's literature, fiction, non-fiction, mystery novels, even educational books like SAT prep books (which are usually expensive)—and more. They have books in English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Gujarati, so that younger generations can familiarise themselves with regional classics.

They have an annual family membership for a nominal amount, INR 4,000, which lets you borrow up to two books in 15 days. Pretty awesome, right? Located in Kendriya Vihar, Sector 56, they're planning to expand to Golf Course Road. They're also nice enough to arrange books for you on request! They're also offering a discount on their annual family membership if you go this week—it'll cost you INR 3,000. What we really liked about them is their keen desire to make reading a collective community effort (hence the family membership). They may soon host book clubs and have authors come visit them, too.

What Could Be Better

They can't help it, but it's too far for Delhi peeps. So Gurgaon's got lucky this time!
