Healthy And Fitness Friendly Food, and a Terrace - Oh Hey NOWW Cafe!

If you’re keen on counting calories and the sacrifice of flavour bears heavy, take heed! There’s NOWW Café in G Town, and it’s on its way to becoming the new destination for laid back meals that don't add girth to your body! The chef and partner is an ex-banker whose penchant for healthy baking drove her to conceptualizing an entire café based on the principle that healthy eating can be delicious too, and delicious it is. Having partnered with a Fitness Buff, she has been able to develop a menu that will definitely aid your quest for fitness as well. The café is funky and new age, with colours and décor that signify a certain panache more akin to fine dining restaurants rather than a coffee and sandwich place, which is why we were happy to find entrees like pastas, and plated proteins as well. There’s a terrace that seems ideal for corporate communing or a light evening with friends, now that the weather has opened up, perhaps the café can work on that space as well?!

We started with ‘Healthy Beginnings’ and a Homemade Granola Yoghurt Parfait, which was perfect for a hot day; crunchy granola and fresh yoghurt, the meal was light and definitely homemade. Being huge fans of all-day breakfasts, the sheer joy of an egg menu is unparalleled; especially if it has Akuri and home style French Toast on it. Both turned out to be super choices, and we loved the idea of serving the French Toast with compote, as opposed to the standard maple syrup or honey. If you’re a gym buff, then this would be a great place to get a Protein Shake; given that the menu is catering to fitness goals, it has plenty of high protein options! They have a separate beverage menu for smoothies and super-power shots, which includes wheatgrass, aloe and amla; choose a pre or post workout smoothie, and follow it up with a delicious meal. We skipped the soups and sandwiches and hit the pastas, which have a whole-wheat option as well. The Chicken Aglio Olio worked out well, light and easy, and left enough room for a proper entrée. We chose the Jerk Chicken with Garlic Rice - a good portion for a great price, balanced flavours, and a slight piquance that was very welcome. We were on our way out when the pastry counter called out to us; NOWW Café has an in house bakery, so it’s a good idea to either pick up a pack of fresh baked oats cookies, or sit down and have a chocolate brownie; sans nuts if that's what you want. If you’re a member of the gym next door, then NOWW will also do calorie conscious meals for you!
