SummerPlans: Learn How To Build A Homestay In The Himalayas

The information in this post might be outdated

Compartment S4 is an architectural collaborative hosting a workshop from the June 3 till June 15, focusing on ‘Learning By Doing’ at a quiet, little hill station named Khirsu in Uttarakhand. Get an opportunity to interact with the locals at Khirsu and learn to experiment with local materials techniques. This workshop not only provides a great experience but also contributes to the generation of the economy at Khirsu.

Khirsu is located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Unlike most hill stations during the summers, Khirsu (as a result of its difficult-to-find location and limited accommodation facilities) will not be bustling with tourists. With this workshop, you get to visit this beautiful place and experience the pleasant summers (and lovely apple orchards) in the region.

The people of Khirsu nurture their own rural culture, with original techniques and unique materials. Apply to this workshop and get a first-hand experience of their life. Apart from treating yourself to an experience of a lifetime, you will also be contributing to the growth of sustainable housing in the mountains.

Sign up quick to reserve your participation and plan your summers beforehand! Last date is May 10. Register at: handmade@compartments4.com or call to register at +91 9722276077 / +91 7506184837.
