Jaipur Literature Fest Outs Its Dates & First List Of Speakers

The information in this post might be outdated

What Is It?

Block your dates {Jan 19-23, 2017} as our beloved Jaipur Literature Festival makes a comeback at Diggi Palace.

We’ve also got the names of the first 10 novelists, authors and screenwriters who are going to be coming: Alice Walker, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Eka Kurniawan, SL Bhyrappa, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Mark Haddon, Sir David Hare, Alan Hollinghurst, Richard Flanagan and NoViolet Bulawayo. OMG, right?

Lived through their works and eager to pursue thoughts that kept you up at night? Plan ahead and make sure you’re seated right in front at the sessions {practice your pro nod too}.

Who Is It For?

Basically, it’s a free-wheeling literary tea party that’s as much for well-read cool cats as for grumpy bookworms who inhabit messy cubbyholes. So, everyone who loves reading and writing and gets a kick from being surrounded by bright minds, is welcome to this free event {yes, free, despite having hosted around 1.3 million visitors over a decade}.

Let’s say this again: We’re talking five days of deep discussions, candid talks and insights into written works of significance.

Why Should I Go For It?

Over the years, JLF has become a place to meet and greet our favourite authors and get up, close and personal with storytellers we’ve grown up hearing/reading/watching/admiring.

If you haven’t been living under a rock {more like a mountain}, you’ll know the gravity of this annual event that’s seen over 1,300 legendary speakers including the likes of Amish Tripathi, Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Fry, Salman Rushdie, Orhan Pamuk, Vikram Seth, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Gulzar and many more.

Anything Else?

To keep track of all the speakers that’ll be announced over the next 10 weeks, follow JLF on Facebook and Twitter.
