Khan Foods may be a newly-opened Mughlai eatery in Daryaganj, but the food tastes like it was made for a Mughal king today. Post the excellent meat preparations and to-die-for gulab jamuns, the best bit is the bill.

Booking our meal

Sunday morning usually means a jaunt to the Daryaganj book market for us. Regulars to Chor Bazaar and the Book Bazaar know that the Chandni Chowk area is completely closed for business on a Sunday and thus, we usually make our way to CP for a filling lunch.

But not this time. Lured by its big banners and delicious aromas, we decided to check out Khan Foods.

Old world and timeless

The restaurant was spick and span. Seated on comfy wooden chairs, we ordered a half plate of Chicken Korma, a couple of tandoori rotis, a bottle of mineral water and a soft drink.

And boy oh boy, we were presented with two gigantic fluffy rotis, which came apart easily, and four huge pieces of chicken, swimming in gravy. While the meal is sure to clog your arteries, we can guarantee that it’ll be worth it!

Own it

The owner himself recommended his best dishes, and waited on us patiently, explaining each one. We ended with a couple of gulab jamuns each, one slightly longish and the other round {and darker}. The after-mint comes in a gorgeous little glass container with silver filigree. Our total bill was only INR 250!

We’re going back next weekend for the Kheer and Malai Tikka for sure, and we hope to see you there. They also home deliver up to 3kms, with a minimum order of INR 500.

#LBBTip

We hear the Changezi Chicken does extremely well in the evenings {when it’s made} and the biryani is right out of the Arabian Nights.
