The oldest {and biggest, may we add} celebration in town, they start with a parade of the actors from the Ram Leela through the streets of Old Delhi and end up at the Ramlila Maidan where the theatrical effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, and Kumbhakaran are set alight by firecrackers. Expect huge crowds and infectious energy.

For the tallest, most dramatic effigies in town, the display in the Red Fort Lawns is definitely the one to turn to. Their depiction of the Ramayana is a crowd pleaser and is full of realistic effects that you can thank technology for.

A leg of the Shri Ram Lila Committee, their Dussehra celebrations leave no stone unturned, trust us. The performance of the Ramlila, we hear is well-detailed and gripping to watch, and the effigies are enormous. What steals the show though, is the food stalls. Be sure to sample all you can!

The well-known centre of dance, music, and performing arts puts on a magnanimous show every year showcasing every form of art- from music, to theatre to dance. They even provide English translations to the spoken lines, so you can take friends who may not speak the language.
