Liquarium For a Drinking Sesh Post Work

The information in this post might be outdated

While there is no dearth of choices there, each time we go HKV we can’t help feeling, “been there, done that.” Our latest experiment was at the newly opened Liquarium. It is a small, cosy place with very simple old-school decor.

The biggest highlight is the live music {which was a tad bit loud for us} that plays all day long until 11pm. The dimly lit space has got a raw feel to it and a good mix of Indo-Chinese and Indo-Italian dishes to choose from, along with the regular north Indian fare.

Cocktails and smoke

This could be your regular place to chill after work over drinks with some good ol’ tandoori bites. We tried the Virgin Mojito and Green Apple Vodka cocktail, nothing too strong but refreshing nonetheless. We were happy with the nicely done paneer tikka, and our non-vegetarian friend recommends the succulent chicken tikka and chicken Shashlik, that comes with a lovely yogurt dip and bell peppers.

The vegetarian Mezze Platter lacked the usual pickled vegetables and olives, but compensated with a fresh quinoa parsley salad. The pita bread wasn’t as soft as we would have liked- the falafel and hummus were the saving grace of an average platter.

Fish Tikka, we were told, was bang on with a crispy well-done skin and mint dip. We couldn’t try some of the dishes we would have liked to- we were told they are short-staffed on Tuesdays!

The service otherwise, is quite fast and the staff is super attentive.

So we’re saying…

We feel Liquarium could have done a lot of things better; it does not live up to HKV standards. It could work well as a student cafe, only if the price point was a little lower. The food didn’t impress us enough to make us want to go back there again and again.

#LBBTip

If you are a girl, it is the kind of place you’d rather visit in a group and if you’re a guy, gather your boys and chug the night away with some nice Bollywood melodies in the background.
